I had lunch at Rice Boat at Taj Malabar Resort & Spa, and it turned out to be one of those meals you quietly savour long after it’s over. The restaurant has such a beautiful old-world charm. It feels calm and elegant, without trying too hard, and the setting immediately puts you in the mood to slow down and enjoy the experience. The food is where Rice Boat truly shines. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, handled with care and cooked just right. I especially enjoyed the fish and prawn preparations; perfectly done, full of flavour, and paired with these gorgeous coconut-based gravies that felt rich yet comforting, not heavy. The balance of spices was spot on and never overpowering. One dessert I absolutely have to mention is the homemade coconut gelato, honestly outstanding. A perfect ending to the meal. Service, as expected at a Taj property, was impeccable, warm and attentive. Everything flowed seamlessly, making the evening feel relaxed and unhurried. If you enjoy seafood and appreciate classic flavours done really well, Rice Boat is a place you shouldn’t miss. It’s elegant, soulful, and deeply satisfying, the kind of dining experience that stays with you.

We choose rice boat to have dinner on our wedding anniversary after checking multiple reviews. We booked a table for buffet dinner. After reaching there, we met the restaurant supervisor, Mr. Ahilan, who realised it was a special occasion for us. He helped us in coming up with a set menu as we wanted to have few things out of the buffet menu. He sent us out of the restaurant saying he need some time to get ready with the menu. When we came back after exploring the beautiful resort, he surprised us with a special table and was ready with a candle light dinner for us!!! Food was amazing! More than food, I’ll rate the overall experience I got on the special occasion. The staff made us feel delighted on our first wedding anniversary… Thank you Ahilan!

The Rice boat has a very good tasting menu called the taste of Kerala that was recommended by Mr Rajeev at the rice boat. It was definitely worth it and would highly recommend for someone wishing to try the best of seafood Kerala has to offer. The crab soup was nothing like I've ever tried before. We also tried the lobster which was very well done and the executive chef Shaaji cooked the food to perfection. Anand who waited on our table was very courteous and helpful as well. Would be ideal to come over during lunch or before sunset for the view it has to offer. Sightly expensive on the pocket but otherwise a great place to dine.

Decided to dine in at this restaurant after all those reviews from my friends. To be honest, there's nothing special to match the hype, except for the views and the ambience. It's a good place only if you're a sea food lover, so there wasn't much the restaurant had to offer to a person like me, who doesn't fancy sea food. Karimeen pollichathu- good Kal appam - excellent Kerala paratha - below average Customer service- exceptional, if you can converse in fluent english!

Anniversary dinner.. we ordered the set menu Veg version had mushroom 65 and kizhi paneer Non veg had roasted lobster kizhi fish and a roast fish And some calamari Fish was cooked correctly and technically the food was passing all tests Main course was veg stew veg korma thoran And fish curry Idiyappam parotta and appam Food lacked a zing. Something I experienced in local eateries in interiors of Kerala Dessert was coconut ice cream and coconut souffle Two desserts nearly identical in taste and texture shouldn’t be paired together souffle was too dense Service was prompt and impeccable They had reserved a table by the window for us Ambience and music were complimentary View from window is of the muddy water with plankton so even if you don’t sit by the window it’s ok Prices are obviously taj appropriate If going for the food there are other better places If going for the experience go ahead
