I have visited 6 Ballygunge place, Salt Lake outlet after 6 years and they have shifted their outlet in a new building. Since it was a weekday afternoon, there is no waiting time. staffs greeted us, very cosy ambience with nice instrumental Rabindra Sangeet played background. We ordered 1. Diamond Fish Fry 2. Basanti Pulao 3. Kancha Lanka Chicken khosa 4. Bhapa Sandesh All items are well cooked, balanced, mouth watering and all importantly we didn't feel items were rich, could be eat after half portion. We enjoyed the full meal, and felt like we just eat a heavy lunch at home.

The aloor dom was not of bengali style. it was extremely oily and full of kashmiri laal mirch. It was tasteless overall. Other items were good.

A great place to savour authentic Bengali cuisine. We had steamed rice, Doi maach and doi chicken. The tender juicy chicken was delicious and succulent fish had us drooling. Definitely would visit again to try the buffet.

The ambience and service was good. Food taste was not what we expected. It was not bad but the expectation was high. Fish Kabiraji was bit more oily. Kosha mangsho was a hit. It is a mush have.

I have long been a patron of 6 Ballygunge Place for their authentic Bengali flavours, using their catering for family functions. But my recent visit to the Salt Lake branch was a shocking disaster. This ‘fine dining’ spot is now a pretentious sham, prioritising table turnover like a fast-food joint over genuine hospitality. First, despite confirming that a booking was in place the front desk made my friends wait for no real reason. There was no rush inside or outside. Furthermore, what should have been a relaxing lunch with friends became outright humiliation due to the boorish manager, and most shockingly, it's not the first time that I faced such abominable behaviour from the same person. We enjoyed decent dishes, but as desserts arrived, the manager aggressively demanded we “rush through” them, claiming hordes of guests waited outside. His condescending tone treated us like loiterers, despite empty tables inside. When we left, the waiting area was deserted, no one in sight. This was a blatant lie to bully us out. Worse, this happened before during a family visit: the same manager pressured us to vacate early under false pretenses, refused to apologise when confronted, and smugly blamed us for "deliberately delaying" and being inconsiderate. Even another staffer apologised clandestinely behind his back and on his behalf, confirming it's their regular toxic playbook. For a brand touting cultural heritage and upscale ambiance, this disrespect is unforgivable. They charge premium prices but treat patrons like disposable commodities. In hospitality-rich Kolkata, this branch is an embarrassment. 6BP Management kindly either overhaul your staff with basic decency training. For those reading Beware! And even if you don’t skip this place (plenty of better Bengali options exist though), at least call them out for their abominable service and hospitality. Zero stars—unacceptable!

One of the worst experience with 6 Ballygunge, for 950rs buffet, no starters, no welcome drink, one fish curry, chicken curry and mutton curry, thats all. Not even Basanti polao, only steam rice option, its completely unacceptable with the price they are charging. Not at all recommended
