@amarkhamar - Not your average restaurant but a time travel pod that takes you around regional cuisine from across Bengal . It's not just about ordering the lick smacking food out of their menu and satiating your hunger but be prepared to jaw drop when you hear about the 100 varieties of rice grain grown across Bengal . Until I dined here, I didn't even know there could be more than 3 varieties of ghee, one could taste 7 types of rice in one sitting and an entire plethora of ingredients that is used only regionally like Piper chaba. Gondhoraj and Gobindabhog rice suddenly became a thing of past . A must visit for anyone who wants to explore Bengali cuisine or wants to feed the curiosity around how vast or rich the belt is

This place has a range of bengali food items that you will not find anywhere else in the city. They have done their research right, connected with the roots of bengali cuisine and curated a brilliant menu. We tried their Chhutir Bhaat with a few other ala carte items. All the items were amazing. A little more love to their Chui Jhaal Mutton, Campbell Hasher Dim posto, jhinger Khosha bata and Dumur diye chingri. Chingri cutlet and machet khasta kochuri were also outstanding! Will definitely visit again and highly recommend to anyone looking for good bengali food.

Hands down the best Bengali food in Kolkata right now. Subtle yet flavourful. Unique lost flavours that genuinely suit today’s palette, and discoveries or Bengal that might get lost otherwise. Cant get better. Yes the portions are small but thats the best part because proves and very reasonable and that allows you to try a large variety of dishes. I would strongly recommend the kosha mangsho with luchi, the fish khasta kachori, the haaasher dim, the prawn cutlet, the chingri and many more dishes that I cant remember the name for but were so so good.

Went here with my work team. Enjoyed a big, wholesome Bengali meal. It's an amazing experience that doesn't treat it's food like any other ordinary restaurant. Their Special Mutton and Golda Prawns are amazing, took me back to my childhood.

Finally visited the famed gourmet Amar Khamar lunch room. Food was really unique and a commendable effort to serve usual items in a new manner. The beverages were very refreshing. The starters were delicious. The main course could have been improved though. Especially portion could be much better. Overall, good one time take.

This might be a good place to introduce someone to homely bengali food. And I emphasize homely, because the food is just about that. It’s neither the biyebari-unhealthy nor an eclectic fusion interesting. And that kinda puts it at a disadvantage in Kolkata especially, because homely bengali food is probably better in most homes. The potion sizes are just right for a single person to try a drink starter and a main course, so not too pocket friendly either. Overall, not bad at all. But nothing outstanding either.

portion size is too small. the rice was not enough for even 1 young person with a good appetite. taste wise it was nothing outstanding or extra ordinary though they use less oil & spices.
