This place needs no introduction. A landmark restaurant, that boasts one of the largest floor spaces along with a humongous parking lot. Me being from Kolkata itself, had never been able to make a plan to visit this place. Finally made a plan to visit during Durga Puja 2025, for Navami dinner with my wife. As expected, there was a huge line, with a waiting list and people waiting. I should thank my lucky stars, as there was a table for two, at the far side, empty, probably waiting for us. 😁😁 window side, once you climb up the stairs, and turn left. Post settling down, we were attended by Tonmoy Da, who was a gem of a person. Despite the restaurant being absolutely crowded, with customers requesting for a place to sit, or for their food to arrive, Tanmoy Da, sent a junior to take the order. once we placed our orders, including the drinks, the food landed on our table in record time..piping hot. I don't remember, the last time, I got such prompt service at any restaurant in China Town. I had ordered, Prawn Chips, Golden Fried Prawns, ( Pic not available, because we were too hungry) 🤣 In the main course, we ordered, Mix Fried Rice, Cantonese Mixed Gravy Noodles, & Pan Fried Chilli Fish. The food was piping hot, and the taste was bang on point. We had an amazing time, given the vibe and the exemplary service given by Tonmoy Da. Looking forward to visit again.

🌟 A Big Thank You to Big Boss Restaurant! 🌟 During this year’s Durga Puja (on Saptami), I mistakenly paid ₹9,162 instead of ₹6,192 to Big Boss Restaurant. Unfortunately, I only realized the error over a month later when my credit card statement arrived. When I contacted the restaurant and visited them yesterday, I honestly didn’t expect much after so long. But to my surprise, the team at Big Boss Restaurant responded with genuine courtesy and understanding. A special shout-out to Mr. Anupam Mishra, who went above and beyond to help me out. Knowing that I have a small baby and it would be difficult for me to visit again, he personally arranged to send the refund online — a gesture that truly touched me. In a world where such honesty and customer care are becoming rare, Big Boss Restaurant stands out not just for their great food but also for their integrity and kindness. 🙏 Highly appreciate their professionalism and humanity. Thank you once again to the entire Big Boss team! 💫

Big Boss is an awesome family restaurant at the heart of China Town, Tangra. I went there after a few years with my entire family for dinner. We liked the cool ambience.. Quite spacious.Only joint in China Town with its own parking area which is quite big.Elevator facility is available which is another good aspect.Food is super delicious and cost effective considering the quantity. However, Cantonese noodles can be improved and so is the Golden Fried Prawn whose crust seemed hard to me.I am giving 5 stars for the overall dining experience and comfort. Keep it up - team Big Boss.

One of the best restaurants in Tangra, the food is amazing and the service is prompt. The overall dining experience is excellent and consistently enjoyable. The only minor botheration is the waiters repeatedly pressing for tips, which slightly takes away from an otherwise great experience.

I recently visited Big Boss in Tangra, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience that didn't live up to its reputation. While there was one high point in the meal, the rest of the food and the service culture left much to be desired. The Food We ordered a variety of classic Indo-Chinese dishes, but the quality has clearly dipped: Mixed Fried Rice: The rice was incredibly dry and lacked the fluffy, seasoned texture you expect from a Tangra eatery. Gravy Noodles: These were underwhelming; the noodles were far too thick, making the dish feel heavy and doughy rather than well-balanced. Chilli Fish: This was the biggest disappointment of the night. It was completely bland and seemed to have no salt at all, making it nearly impossible to finish. Prawn in Oyster Sauce: This was the only saving grace of the meal. The sauce was well-executed and flavorful, which showed that the kitchen is still capable of good work, even if it wasn't consistent across the board. The Service The most frustrating part of the evening occurred when the bill arrived. The server was extremely pushy regarding a tip. He first asked if he could add a tip directly to the credit card. When I declined, he immediately began hovering and asking for a cash tip. This felt unprofessional and, frankly, pathetic. Tipping should be a reflection of good service and food, not something a customer is pressured into providing—especially after a meal where most of the dishes missed the mark. Final Verdict: The declining food quality coupled with an aggressive, uncomfortable tipping culture makes it hard to recommend Big Boss right now. There are far better options in the Tangra area where you can enjoy a meal without being hounded at the end of it.

Visited this Bigg Boss for my parents’ anniversary, and it turned out to be a complete disaster. The service was shockingly poor – the servers blatantly ignored our repeated attempts to get their attention. We had to wait over 30 minutes after starters just for a plate of prawn chips and the main course. The quality of the food has dropped drastically. We ordered hot and sour soup, wonton soup, golden fried prawns, chicken fried rice, chilli chicken, hot garlic chicken, and fruit ice cream – and not a single item tasted as it used to. Everything lacked the flavour we expected. To make things worse, half of the menu items were unavailable, and they initially refused to serve basic sauces claiming they were out of stock. Only after repeated pestering did they magically find and bring them – something that just reflects poor attitude and dishonesty. What was supposed to be a memorable evening turned into a frustrating experience. And to top it off, the servers had the audacity to pester us for tips after such terrible service. Would not recommend this place anymore – it has lost its charm, quality, and courtesy.

I came to this restaurant only for the parking facility and the experience was horrible. I generally frequent Golden Joy or Beijing and would suggest everyone here. Food was stale, reordered and it was again stale. Not at all recommended, ambience below average.
