A Hidden Gem for Chinese Food Lovers in Newmarket! China Town Restaurant, located right opposite Society Cinema Hall in the heart of Newmarket, is easily one of Kolkata’s most underrated Chinese eateries. Given the quality of food they serve, more people should definitely know about this place! We ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, Dry Chilli Chicken, Egg Chicken Hakka Noodles and Egg Chicken Fried Rice. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The Dry Chilli Chicken had the perfect balance of spice and crunch, while the Sweet and Sour Chicken hit just the right notes. The noodles and fried rice were loaded with egg and shredded chicken, making them absolutely satisfying. What stood out even more was the warm hospitality. A kind elderly gentleman single-handedly manages everything—taking orders, serving food, and even cleaning tables. It’s rare to see such dedication, and it added to the charm of the place. While the ambience is quite basic, the taste, generous portions, and pocket-friendly pricing make up for it. If you’re a fan of good Chinese food, this place is definitely worth a visit!🫶

China Town is one of the last few Chinese-run restaurants of Kolkata. Obviously the taste is genuine & the quality is fantastic. I dropped over along with my mother for a late lunch, the other day. The food was served quickly although we were late and the taste was fabulous. If I had lived nearer, I wouldnt be ordering Chinese from anywhere else. But unfortunately I don't live in the vicinity and so I will surely visit China Town when I am in the New Market area, for sure. China Town is one of the unique gems of Kolkata. Don't miss it for the world. It deserves much much more business than it gets currently. A pity!

I had gone to China Town with my friends. We had ordered soup, prawn pakora, wanton, chowmein both gravy and hakka, fried rice and chilly chicken. The food was very tasty. Quantity was good. The place is well kept and clean. Good staff members.

This place is another legendary heritage, very less known though. It's serving authentic chinese food since at least last 50 years with erstwhile name as Farley decades back. This is still my dad's favourite chinese resturant since his college days. Food tastes fantastic even after ages and slight downgrade is quality and quantity. Only issues are that the resturant needs renovation, the owner (Indian Chinese) is single handedly managing all the chores and the street it's based has lost its charm after closure of Society Cinema hall. Must try if you are fond of authentic Chinese food. Do try China Town special noodles, it's their signature dish.

An authentic place to dine in Chinese dishes and delicacies. The lighting, decorations and all are so calm and soothing. I found the prices very affordable which attracted me there. Food items are really good and lip smacking. But the lady there was always in hurry and made us to make our order in haste.

China Town Restaurant is one of the most underrated Chinese eateries in Kolkata. Located exactly at New Market area opposite to Society Cinema Hall and adjacent to Nizam's restaurant, they have been serving authentic Chinese food since 25-30 years at moderately fair prices as compared to other food joints. The restaurant is an old building where you get to see the vintage Kolkata style building. As you enter, there is a damp wettish smell that might not impress you owing to the old damp walls of the building though the seating area is quite long and spacious. It is air-conditioned but there is no separate area of wash basin. There is a toilet which was worst and it badly needs maintenance and prioritize in hygiene. Apart from this, you can have a seat and look at their menu for having some good options in Chinese food. We ordered few of our selectives especially from the Pork items and it was served quite fast. There are no such waiters but an old getleman who takes care of your orders. The food honestly was didn't excelled at par but surely, it was good and decent. The pork was fresh and every item owing to the price point was okay. Somewhat I felt, few of the items had sweetness on the marginally higher side though can be ignored if you don't dive deep into the criticisms like a food blogger. Overall, it was a pretty decent experience of this less popular Chinese eatery in New Market but honestly, though I recommend that they need to have a renovation and improvement in certain amenities that might bring them up to the desired trending Chinese restaurants !!

Food quality and quantity is very good. Authentic Chinese food served here. But the problem is the owners are doing all the work and they are very rude in nature and they did not give time to finish food. Before finishing our food they took our plates with out permission. This is really embarrassing.
