I know I am late enough to try the famous fish fry , chicken stew with bread Along with delicious tea from Chitto Babur Dokan at Dacer's Lane . Firstly I tried the chicken stew & totally forgot to click pictures as it was sooo tasty and I was hungry AF. Being One of the most ancient and popular food joint in Kolkata , the serve variety of foods from dimer chop, to fish roll, bread and chana to Chinese dishes as well at a very pocket friendly rate. Definitely a must try.

Chitto babur dokan is an old heritage street food joint in the middle of dacres lane. I tried their very famous chicken stew. This stew served along with a big size chicken piece, boiled papaya, carrot and beans. Topped with some sprinkle of black pepper. This stew is very light in taste as well as healthy. Chicken stew per plate rupees 92/- which is pretty much high according to the quantity and quality. {uid:31431597}

Felt nostalgic at Chittoda. Same old taste that will mesmerise you. Had Chicken Stew, Fish Fry and Tea. Cant get anything better than this

Today I visited this place with my dad. We tried there Chicken Stew with Bread and Egg Devil. Both the items were extremely delicious.

The legendary Chitto Babu r dokan serves food as early as 7 am when we tried their eggs on toast, ghugni and tea. We have often eaten their chicken stew with bread toast here though diamond fish fry is a personal favourite. if you can ignore the stench from the area and not be too bothered about cleanliness, the food is lip-smackingly delicious.

Chicken stew, Chicken rezala with rumali roti is must try food items over there..simple sobering less spicy and so healthy. Very much pocket friendly restaurant

One of the most overrated and overhyped place in Kolkata thanks to YouTubers and bloggers who only copy each other. This place may be good in past but now it’s only for name ,visit here only for its past name and history. The shop is situated at Dackers lane near Esplanade which is famous for (unhygienic) street food and this place is famous than any other. First this place is too unhygienic,this may be ok 50 years back but now a days it can’t be taken by grace,they need to improve it,whether its utensils cleanliness or staff . I went for their most famous item which is chicken stew and believe me it was just ok,north special that person visit this area specially to have this,chicken was not properly cooked,was little hard to chew,disappointed,best this was the buttered toast bread.Tea was also basic. They also serve some fried items like cutlets but after disaster with their main USP items wasn’t in mood to try any other thing.

Chitto babur dokan, returned here after 10 months when I've come back to Kolkata only to have a Shady, Non - Transparent experience. While I cannot and will not fault the food - Chicken stew is a MUST have! the payment process is where things get murky. If you pay using UPI, they have to pay Rs. 5 extra. My bill was Rs. 153, if i wanted to pay via Google pay/Paytm etc - my bill is Rs. 158. Reasons given- 1. GST- no bill was provided so how is he charging GST? 2. His (Mr. Sandeep Roy's)maintanence of personal bank account charge- HOW & WHY am i liable to this? Seems like a shady trickery that paying customers do not deserve. Pls be careful when you're eating here.
