After getting our eyes checked at Disha Eye Care, we were hungry and thought of visiting Gondhoraj restaurant which is on the fourth floor of the same building. We were seated promptly and allowed to go through the menu card at leisure. The restaurant was spacious, well lit. Not crowded (Tuesday, lunch). A few itemsof our choice from the menu were not available but there were alternatives to choose from. Did not have to wait long for the food to arrive. The Vegetarian thali was very good. We also ordered a la carte - rice, dal, jhurjhure aloo bhaja, and chicken kosha. Dal and chicken kosa deserve special mention. But the star of our meal was dessert - malpoa, baked mihidana, baked sandesh (especially for those who prefer moderately sweet dessert), and Indrani (the milky liquid of the last one could have been a little thicker). Pleasant ambience, excellent service (they patiently answered all our queries.) Will visit again.

This place is the best for authentic Bengali cuisine in South Kolkata. The food was heavenly at a very reasonable price and the service equally commendable. The ambience was also too calming and photogenic. If you want to have Bengali food in its best and luxurious form, this should be your go to place!!

The food quality is really good here. the Chicken was well boiled and the daan chingri tasted great. Visited on noboborsho so there was a slight delay in service but that is negligible. Look forward to visiting again!!

We visited Gondhoraj on Poila Baisakh for a traditional Bengali lunch with family. It was a group of 8 of us, and the place was absolutely packed, which is expected on Noboborsho. *Ambience & Service* The restaurant had a festive vibe. Because of the rush, we had to wait almost 2 hours for a table. Honestly, we were a bit frustrated initially, but the staff handled the crowd politely and kept updating us on the wait time. Once seated, service was prompt and courteous despite the mad rush. *Food – The Real Star* The wait was forgotten the moment the food started arriving. We went all out with a proper Bengali spread: - *Starters*: Kochuri with cholar daal – the kochuris were hot, fluffy, and the daal had that perfect hing-jeera balance - *Rice*: Steamed rice and fragrant Basanti Polao – both cooked perfectly, polao had the right amount of sweetness - *Mains*: Mutton kosha was rich, tender, and falling off the bone. Chicken curry was lighter but equally flavorful - *Seafood*: Daab chingri came in the tender coconut itself – creamy, coconutty, and packed with prawns. Bhetki paturi was wrapped and steamed just right, mustard flavor was on point. The Gondhoraj grilled fish was a surprise hit – smoky, citrusy, and super fresh - *Drinks & Dessert*: Fresh lime soda was much needed in this heat. We ended with baked mihidana – a modern twist on the classic, and it worked beautifully *Final Verdict* Yes, 2 hours is a long wait. But if you’re going for a Noboborsho meal with family and want authentic Bengali food done right, this place delivers. The daab chingri and bhetki paturi alone were worth the trip. Go with time in hand, and you won’t be disappointed.

Disappointing service overall. Even their other branch is far better than this one. They advertised a buffet at the Gariahat location, and I even called to confirm it. They clearly said “YES, buffet is available today.” However, after reaching the location, we were informed that the buffet had been cancelled. We had to wait a long time just to get a seat. After finally being seated, we waited another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order, as no one was responding. On top of that, the food arrived after an additional 1.5 hours. The quality of the food was also disappointing. The dal had a burnt smell, and the mutton was not cooked properly. Overall, it was a very poor experience and not worth the time or money.

Terrible service. They are so under staffed. The food is quite costly but the service is pathetic. Even more worse is their washroom. You will vomit out all the food if you by any chance need to use the washroom. I had earlier visited miss ginko and today I visited gondhoraj. Both days the condition was pathetic. it smells like a railway station toilet. will never ever visit again. Absolutely not recomended.
