Every year I look forward to the Onam Sadya, and this year was no different. Since not many restaurants in Calcutta serve it, I chose Swagat after hearing great things about their spread—and I wasn’t disappointed. The food was tasty, filling, and felt quite authentic, making the experience truly satisfying. Although the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed by the crowd, things were managed reasonably well. With a little better organization, this could easily be one of the best Sadya experiences in the city.

we often visit here with family for tasty south/north indian food in hygienic and peaceful atmosphere. The staff is polite and well behaved. Unlike many restaurants, in the bread menu they serve Chapati/Phulka as well. overall experience always nice. Availability of parking space adds convenience.

This restaurant has been there for years and I still remember going there with my parents as a kid. Recently we rediscovered this place. The interiors have been amped up and I felt like the food has improved too. Being a hardcore non vegetarian, I enjoyed the vegetarian food here a lot. We tried the ONION MASALA DOSA and the NORTH INDIAN THALI. The Dosa was crisp on the outside with onions filled in. The potato filling came on the side as we had requested so along with the coconut chutney and sambar. Coming to the thali, it was huge, at least for me considering that I have quite a big appetite. The thali consisted of Jeera Rice, 2pcs Tandoori Roti, Yellow Dal, Chana Masala, Dum Aloo, Raita, Salad, Achar and Papad. I loved each and every thing on the plate other than the raita which was a bit too tart for my liking. I would highly recommend this place for vegetarian food. The service is good and the price point is reasonable.

Hotel Swagath is decades old hotel and their inhouse restaurant serves delicious mouth watering vegetarian food. They were earlier known for south Indian dishes but nowadays they have North Indian and Chinese cuisines in their menu as well.I tried their super soft and piping hot Idli. The sambar and chutneys were good too.Filter coffee is great as well.We also tried North Indian Special Thali which was tummy filling. The ambience is average. The price & service is fine.

We went to this place for a family dinner. Firstly, we were made to wait for half an hour because it was busy which i didn't mind, because i was promised that the food would be good. However we had to call the waiters over atleast 4 times before they took our order. We ordered dosas and lemon rice, which were good, but the food took AGES. We had ordered drinks, which came when we were almost done with our meal. And we ordered coke and soft drinks, nothing that needed to be made! Besides that, we also ordered chilli babycorn which didn't even come and we were charged for it too. The waiters tried to rush us along with our orders too. Honestly, the wait and the bad service wasn't worth the quality of food we received. Hopefully on a less crowded day it'll be better

Not a vegetarian and I don't like eating Vegetarian food. But one colleague brought me there without letting me know the truth that it was a all vegetarian place. Now I can't invest some 120 / 140 RS just for a dosa. A plate of chilli chicken with 6/ 8 pieces of chicken costs 160! So I ordered some aloo paratha. I was bored. My colleague found the dahi very fresh and tasty but I found nothing extra ordinary. Anyways it was not my type of place. My marwari colleague loves this place and ambience wise it was good.

Horrible staff. We went for the Onam Sadya. First we were made to wait for 45 mins- even after asking them how much time it would take approximately. Anyway, after getting inside, we were made to wait for another 20 mins only for the order to be taken. They did not serve all the dishes on the menu firstly, while the standard Price of the food was mentioned. We ignored that also thinking well it’s a festivity so let’s not ruin the mood either way and eat up. Secondly, the guard of this hotel. I’ve never seen a single hotel who would have such a horrible attitude towards guests. The guard was plain, simple, RUDE. He parked my vehicle inside the premises. When at the time of leaving, I asked him to get it out, he just stood there like a statue, while he could clearly see there could’ve been a possible accident with the other vehicle parked very close to the proximity of my vehicle. No help was provided, and when I retaliated to the guard, he was rude enough to tell me “Chalo jao yaha se abhi, niklo” I wish I could’ve recorded this entire festive day and how Hotel Swagath made it so memorable for me and my friends. Thank you for such a 5 star quality service. I would Never recommend anybody here.

I had called to make reservations for the Onam sadhya a week back, I was told that no reservation was needed and we can directly reach on 29th August. Thank God we called today and to my utmost surprise I was told that there is no slot available as they are completely booked. I had to make reservation someplace else. Incase I hadn’t called I would have reached for dinner and I would have been denied the same. Absolutely ridiculous!
