Recently we went to India Restaurant and tried a couple of their specialties. 1. Chicken Afghani (Half) 🍗 : ₹310/- (2pcs) This dish came with chicken marinated in cashew nuts, cream, and fresh herbs, slow-cooked to give it a rich, and mildly spiced flavour. The taste was truly enjoyable creamy, aromatic, and full of flavour. However, the only drawback was the cut of chicken used. The two pieces served were mostly bony, which took away from the overall experience. With better meatier portions, it would have been perfect. 2. Special Mutton Biryani 🍖🍚 :₹490/- The highlight of the meal! The Special Mutton Biryani came with two large, juicy pieces of mutton, one boiled egg, and the signature Kolkata biryani potato. The rice was long-grained, fluffy, and aromatic with the fragrance of saffron and subtle spices. The mutton pieces were tender and succulent, absorbing the flavours beautifully. Every bite was truly finger-licking good and reflected the restaurant’s legacy in biryani-making. ✅ Overall Experience: India Restaurant lived up to its reputation, especially with the biryani, which was the showstopper. The Chicken Afghani had great flavours but could be improved with better cuts of chicken.

কলকাতা বিরিয়ানি খেতে হলে খিদিরপুর এর ইন্ডিয়া রেস্টুরেন্ট আমার সব থেকে প্রিয়! আরসালান বা আমিনিয়া এর থেকে অনেক অনেক ভালো লাগে ইন্ডিয়া রেস্টুরেন্ট এর মটন বিরিয়ানি! তার সঙ্গে অবশ্যই গালাউটি কাবাব আর লখনউ পরোটা! আহা! অপূর্ব! আর শেষ পাতে শাহি টুকরা!

Recently visited India Restaurant in Khidderpore for dinner and it was a mostly delightful experience. The starters set the tone just right — the Chicken Reshmi Kebab and Galawti Kebab were absolutely amazing, melting in the mouth and rich in flavour. Paired with a refreshing fresh lime soda, it was a perfect beginning. Moving on to the main course, the naan, biryani, and Chicken Reshmi Butter Masala were all excellent. The biryani was aromatic and well-balanced, and the butter masala was creamy and full of depth. However, the much-anticipated Mutton Rezala was underwhelming — possibly a result of the festive season rush, as it lacked the finesse one would expect from such a signature dish. Additionally, in the special biryani, one piece of mutton was unfortunately not tender at all. That said, the staff handled the complaint well and provided an extra piece, which was absolutely delicious and made up for the earlier disappointment. Also the ice cream sundae at the end was just amazing. The ambience was quite pleasant, providing a comfortable and enjoyable dining atmosphere. While the pricing is slightly on the higher side, the quality of food and service largely justify it. Overall, a good place for dinner — especially for kebab lovers. With a little more consistency, it can easily be among the best in the area.

This has been an iconic Biryani place of Kolkata. But sadly the Biryani didn't live up to my expectations. Though the Galawati Kebab was delicious. Anyhow you can try it for yourself.

For many years now, India Restaurant in Khidderpore has been very very special to my friends and me. More than loyal patrons, we've been true ambassadors of their biryani, kebabs and tikkas, swearing that they're the absolute best in the city. Considering we visit twice a month, the waiters know us and our usual order. However, our bizarre experience yesterday has brought a definitive end to this fortnightly ritual. On August 11, we visited for dinner and ordered three biryanis and one chicken rezala. What followed was the most unappetising encounter I have ever had at any restaurant. We found a long strand of hair in the mutton biryani, two strands in my chicken biryani and yet another long strand in the chicken rezala. This feels intentional or at the very least intentionally careless. I refuse to believe this can be attributed to a simple error in the kitchen. While there is absolutely no way we will ever return to India Restaurant, I am mostly upset that this happened at an estab

On August 15, 2026, I placed an order through Zomato for a birthday celebration. However, during the midnight celebration, when we unboxed the order, we discovered that only one cake had been delivered instead of the two cakes we had ordered. We immediately informed Zomato and provided all the necessary documents and proof. We also contacted the shop, and they admitted their mistake and agreed to process the refund through Zomato. However, despite this, Zomato still refused to issue any refund, and none of their representatives properly contacted us or tried to resolve the issue. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and feels like outright cheating of customers. Such irresponsible and unprofessional treatment of customers should not be tolerated, and the platform should be held accountable for this kind of behavior.
