If you’re craving something different from the usual South Indian spots around Kolkata, Kaanji in Howrah is worth a try. Located near Dumurjala Jhil, this place serves some unique and flavourful dishes at super reasonable prices. The Kolapata Biryani (₹160) really stands out – wrapped in banana leaf and finished on a hot tawa, it has a lovely aroma and great taste. The Bamboo Chicken (₹180) is smoky, tender, and nicely marinated. Mutton Sukkha with Malabar Porota is a comforting, spicy combo, and the prawns are perfect if you enjoy a bit of heat. Don’t skip the filter coffee and kesari halwa for a satisfying end. Pocket-friendly (around ₹400–500 for two) and different from the usual menu – a good spot for a casual food outing.

Tried out the newly opened Kaanji and it’s a lovely little spot! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a cozy setup that’s perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. The menu has a nice selection of foods . I ordered the Malgapodi Dosa, Dahi Vada and Kerala Fried Chicken , Filter Coffee and it was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The coffee was smooth and well-made too. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everything was to our liking. It’s clear they’re passionate about what they do, and it shows in both the service and the food. I’ll definitely be coming back soon.

This Beautiful restaurant of Howrah serving Pure Veg or Hearty Non Veg South Indian dishes under same roof. Recently I visited this place with a friend of mine, and i absolutely loved everything about this place. They've both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements with lovely interiors. We Had : Filter Coffee, Kanji Puram Idly, Masala Dosa, Dahi Vada, Spicy Prawn & Mutton Sukka. The food was delicious even the quality was great. The staffs were very friendly. I would love to recommend this place to everyone. The exact location of Kanji is Dumurjala jhil, Dr Bholanath Chakraborty Sarani, Bantra, Ichapur, Howrah, (Ground Floor, Kathakali Banquet)

Recently visited Kolapata Biryani and loved the authentic Kerala vibes here! Tried their Rava Pomfret Fry, Keraliyan Chicken Roast with soft paratha, Bamboo Chicken & the star of the day Kolapata Biryani. Ekhankar kolapata biryani khete 1kbar noy 10bar aste pari! Unique, flavourful and truly memorable. Ambience, food quality & overall experience were amazing. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic South Indian and regional cuisines in Howrah!

"Food coma alert! 🍴👌 Had an amazing meal at Kanji! Kolapata Biriyani was flavorful, Bamboo Chicken was smoky perfection, and Mutton Sukha was spicy goodness! Kanjipuram Dosa was crispy, Kesari Halwa was sweet indulgence, and Filter coffee was just what I needed to round it off. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars! 😋

This is the best South Indian restaurant in Howrah.I tried their newly launched Kalapata Biryani and Bamboo chicken which was too good.They have a family friendly south indian ambiance.also there staff behaviour is so good.and...dont miss their Kasari Halua.

Ambience is good but service is very poor They prefer Zomato more than customer waiting at table. Even after taking order of customer at table first but prioritising zomato customer over same order Third class services they provide They don't maintain professional services
