Recently visited Aminia , located in Sodpur. The ambiance was very beautiful. The dishes were quite delicious and mouth-watering. Aminia is the oldest and most famous biriyani restaurant in Kolkata. It was in 1929 that the first Aminia outlet was opened up in Zakaria Street by the late Abdul Rahim. Nawab Wajid Ali Shah was hugely responsible for the advent of the Calcutta Biryani. When the British took over Lucknow, they exiled the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah to Kolkata. When he settled in Kolkata, he started his own kitchen, and the Awadhi delicacies started becoming popular . The potato in the biryani was his invention, you don’t find it anywhere else in the country. The potato was actually introduced to replace the meat, as they didn’t have enough money to go for mutton. That recipe stuck, and was eventually adapted into what we know today as the Kolkata biryani,” Azhar informs us, over a plate of their finest Awadhi biryani. . We tried : ● Reshmi Kebab ● Tikka Kebab ● Chicken Biriyani ● Mutton Biriyani ● Chicken Chap ● Firni . The kebabs here were more juicy. I really like the biryani, The biryani was not very oily but was a little spicy which I liked. The biryani potatoes were very soft and the quality of mutton was very good. . Rating : 5/5 . Emotion can not be completed without biriyani neither biriyani can..!! Presenting the lipsmacking and one of the most famous chicken and mutton biriyani from the house of Aminia sodpur branch..!! Couple of days back i visited this outlet for having a beautiful lunch session over there and there I got a large collection of lipsmacking items which are ... 📍 Chicken tikka kebabs 📍 Chicken malai kebab 📍 Chicken Biryani 📍 Mutton biriyani 📍 Chicken chaap 📍 Phirni ..... So these are the signature dishes of them which i had over there apart from that they also have some another delicious and lipsmacking mughlai item as well....!!! So stop wasting any more time and do visit this place for Having a better experience ahead...!!! ....

This place is absolutely value for money. Quality of the food is too good. Chicken Biryani was luxurious delight known worldwide and loved by all. Beautiful melange of chicken layered with long grain basmati rice and slow cooked (dum) to perfection.

A small food corner. Mainly serving Biryani. Can accommodate only upto 6-8 people at once. Primarly for takeaways. Tried their biryani on several occasions. The Biryani has a nice aroma, the chicken pieces are tender and the potato piece is soft. The quantity and quality is reasonable compared to the price. Price - 80 & 100 INR (Chicken & Mutton Biryani respectively) Rating - 4/5 (Based on quality and quantity) Tip : Would recommend The Chicken Biryani over Mutton Biryani since the mutton pieces arent that much satisfying.

Aminia is one of the high standard name in biriyani world , so it's easy to guess that the taste of biriyani of this restaurant is great. Really it is ! I had ✓Chicken Biriyani. ✓Lachha Porota & Chilli Chicken. The taste was awesome. The service was great, if you do not try this restaurant yet then just go for it don't thrive with regrate . *Ambience-8/10. *Food quality-8.5/10
