The first thing on my mind when I decided to go to Kolkata was to somehow visit Peter Cat—and I’m glad I managed to do it on the very first day of sightseeing. The place was crowded, as expected, but it had multiple floors, so we somehow managed to get seats. I feel it might have originally been just a ground-floor restaurant, with the upper floors added as it grew more popular. That’s just my speculation though—I could be completely wrong. We were seated on the second floor, but it felt like the real charm of the place was in its signature red-hued interiors. Sitting on one of the lower floors would probably have enhanced the experience. Chelo Kebab was a pre-fixed order for us—even before we looked at the menu. We wanted to pair it with a beer, so we tried Caldera Blue Pint since it sounded new and was reasonably priced. We later found out it’s a local brew, but unfortunately, neither of us liked it. So, as a safe bet, we ordered Hoegaarden next—which was fantastic. However, the Keema Naan was a disappointment; it had very little stuffing. The Dum Ki Raan, suggested by the waiter, was good but quite heavy. My friend didn’t enjoy it much because of its slightly sweet taste. Also, we would have preferred something with distinct pieces rather than mashed meat. On top of that, it turned out to be the priciest dish on the menu. Still, it paired well with the Tandoori Roti. Our first set of orders arrived quickly, but the second round took quite a while and really tested our patience. So much for what felt like an once-in-a-lifetime experience.

so after searching some online reviews I went to this restaurant. staff was pretty welcoming. I ordered chicken mererakesh along with beer, the food came within 5 mins, now the actual part of review, never expected it to just be plain rice with two types of kebabs only, looking at the time, it seems the mise en place was ready and food needed just the assembly. the four cubes butter dint even melt properly. chicken merrakish being a morocan dish, has some juicy sauce aswell, I guess this wasn't the same. being a foody myself, it dint feel right, and now my stomach hurts.

Food was okay but the place is overrated. Given the amount of money i spent i expected a better dining experience. Finger bowl water was so hot I could’ve boiled a potato.

I went with my cousin to Peter Cat this evening to have Chello Kebab. Sad to say that they have been unable to maintain the original standard of this particular dish. Rice was splashed all over the plate. The poached egg which earlier used to be very soft and the yoke used to spill out diliciously was very hard. Earlier this food used to come steaming hot but today that was not the scene at all. Naturally, the chunk of butter was not melted - hard. Presentation is absolutely desired for this type of restaurant which was missing - in fact presentation was very poor. I sincerely hope that Peter Cat will bounce back.

Unfortunately the Food was pathetic. Totally marred the evening experience and ruined our taste buds. Ordered for cream of chicken asparagus soup which literally tasted like Boiled Residue of Rice Sprinkled with Salt and Pepper and few cubes of Chicken. Both Chelo Kebab and Kebab Platter were served almost cold and Stale. No Taste and too tangy in taste.Did not like the food at all , which is generally against their reputation.

Today’s the last time i ever visited Peter cat. This is going to be a long review. I arrived at 8.30pm today and asked for booking and they said its first come first serve with a long waiting time with no guarantee of how long. I went there with my family for a show nearby from 9.30 which would get over at 10.45pm. The person at the reservation reception assured me to let us in until 11pm if there r any table empty. I arrived at 10.50pm and they said no on my face saying no tables are empty whereas i could see through their glass window that multiple seats were paying their bills and getting ready to leave. I requested the same man who promised me but he said no with a grin on his face. Without wasting time i ran to check if other restaurants were open but found none at that hour who would allow us without prior booking. I returned back to peter cat to request them and tried to explain to them that we have 2 kids with us, one of them is 3 years old and all were very hungry at that time. The way that man behaved was unbelievable and i went ahead to call for his floor manager. He came out and started misbehaving and i quote him saying to me: “I will let you all sit inside but wont serve food”. That was the time i lost it and asked for their complaint email/register/number/process to which he replied to me that you can google the process. That’s the moment I stopped speaking and took my family and left. I promised myself that I’ll never ever look at Peter cat ever again in my life. They may be a very big heritage restaurant but it’s not bigger than my self respect. Those who have reached this far in the review and took their time out to read my experience, i would request you to share this and if you happen to know anyone person who can make a difference against such behaviour, then please take this forward if you feel what they did was wrong.

This place is running entirely on its reputation now, especially since the quality has dropped so sharply. A restaurant famous for its sizzler and Chelo Kebab flatly told us the sizzler wasn't available. The food was so-so, not even close to what I remembered from 11 years ago. The staff is rude, unprofessional, and far more interested in gossiping than attending to customers. The host wrote down our names and completely ignored my questions about the wait time — he was too busy counting heads in the lobby. Half the tables inside were empty, yet there was a crowd waiting outside to be seated. Clearly, they're more concerned with maintaining some "exclusive" image than with actual customer satisfaction. I've been out of the country for over 11 years and had genuinely been looking forward to this meal. The food alone was a disappointment. The staffs' incompetence and unprofessionalism made it worse.

This restaurant is only famous for 1 dish that is their authentic chello kabab other than that we ordered fried rice chilly chicken. We asked for the gravy chilly chicken they simply denied that they can serve only dried chily chicken so we ordered because we had no option and when the dish arrived the chilly chicken was only tossed in the soya sauce and onion no capsicum was there plus taste was worst I have ever had.. all I have to say naam bade Darshan chote✌🏻✌🏻
