If u want to try some good food in some pocketfriedly amount after shopping.. then this resturant is well enough. Here i had chicken resmi butter masala and butter nun. It just made my day. The taste of the chicken gravy is just amazing. It's still on my mouth.

It is a 90 years old, cabin style restaurant at Esplanade. This place holds a big nostalgic place in my heart as after every Durga Pujo shopping, I used to come here to eat with my family. Our staple was the Moglai porotta here. The price is low and the taste is too good. The moglai is delicious here.

ইংরাজিতে 'রিজেন্ট' শব্দের অর্থ এমন ব্যক্তি যিনি রাজার অনুপস্থিতিতে রাজ্যের শাসনভার নিজের কাঁধে তুলে নেন; আমাদের ক্ষেত্রেও আজকে খানিক তাই হল। এ নিয়ে দ্বিতীয়বারের জন্য 'নিজাম' থেকে ফিরে আসার সময় (এখনো রেনোভেশন চলছে) কলকাতা শহরের অন্যতম প্রাচীন রেস্তোরাঁ 'রিজেন্ট'-এ ঢুঁ মারলাম। এক পা ভিতরে রাখার সাথেই পৌঁছে গেলাম স্যুইট 70s-এ; সেই পুরানো কাঠের টেবিল, কেবিন, লম্বা-গর্দানওয়ালা সিলিং-ফ্যান, প্রবীণ কর্মচারীরা। মূলত চা-কাটলেট-কবিরাজি খেতেই বেশী মানুষের ভিড়। আমরা নিলাম ফিস ফ্রাই আর মাটন বিরিয়ানি। সেই ফ্রাই উইথ চিপস-এর পুরাতন পন্থা বিদ্যমান। বিরিয়ানিতেও সেই পুরাতন কোলকাতার ছোঁয়া। মোটের উপর বেশ ভালো। মেনুকার্ড খানিক লম্বা, অন্য পদগুলিও চেখে দেখার আকাঙ্খা রইল। আপডেট - এবার গিয়ে আশাহত হলাম। বিরিয়ানি মোটামুটি হলেও নুডলস আর চিলি চিকেন অত্যন্ত খারাপ লেগেছে।

Visited Regent Restaurant in Esplanade yesterday, and unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. We ordered a full plate of chicken tandoori kebab, chilli fish (dry), lassi, and masala coke. - The **chicken tandoori kebab** was on the dry side, lacking the juiciness you'd expect. - The **chilli fish** was overly oily, which took away from the flavor and made it less enjoyable. - Drinks like **lassi** and **masala coke** were decent but nothing exceptional. The ambiance is old-school, which some might find nostalgic, but the **non-AC setup** makes it less comfortable, especially for those expecting a more modern dining experience. Despite the simplicity, the pricing wasn’t particularly pocket-friendly, which added to the disappointment. Overall, it’s a 3/10 for me. While it might appeal to those looking for a very retro vibe, the food and value for money didn’t live up to expectations.

খিদের মধ্যেও লোকের যেকোনো খাবার ভালো লাগে,কিন্তু এতো খারাপ খাওয়ার যে খিদের মধ্যেও খেতে ইচ্ছে করলো না..অর্ডার করেছিলাম ফিস্ ফ্রাই,বাটার নান,চিকেন কষা,চিকেন চাপ,আর চা...চা,আর ফিস্ ফ্রাই no doubt বেশ ভালো..কিন্তু আরগুলো just মুখে দেওয়া গেলো না... Very disappointed খরচ করে ভালো খাবার খেতে না পারার জন্য...

Have heard alot about this place but it was not a good experience. Prices were hiked and taste was not up to the mark. Chicken bharta was very sweet. Ambiance was same old bengali cabin style.

 I visited this place on 10thFeb 2024. Had I known they don't receive online payment I wouldn't have gone there. Not only that, when I informed to the person at cash counter that I don't have cash n if they can take thru QR Code ( Because they gave excuse that card machine is not working), it seemed I was talking to wall with no response. It's amazing that when even shops at remote villages r receiving online pmt. this restaurant at Central position of Kolkata is still stuck at stone age. Regarding food, I ordered fried rice n Chilly chicken. The rice was so so, but chicken pieces were too dry n stiff. Seemed they were frozen for long time. Overall a very bad experience and I would suggest better avoid this restaurant.

While the food is reasonable, service is abysmal. Looks like they have excess staff who have nothing to do other than irritating guests. Recently we had mutton cutlet and coffee. What was strange is an old staffer almost forced us to leave showing us the "rights of admission reserved" sign immediately after we finished! the restaurant was 80 percent empty at that time at around 12.30 noon. Becareful before visiting!

the items r too costly for a place like that I ordered noodle , it was like the noodles u will get for 50rs in streets very slow service I'm never visiting this place again
