Extremely wonderful visit. The place is a paradise for food lovers. From the fish orly, fish lasooni kebabs to the tawa polao, masala kulcha and mutton rogan josh, we devoured it all. The bhetki fish and the mutton quality was extraordinary. The behaviour of the staff was also really good. Will visit again for sure.

We tried the fish florentine and chicken gravy noodles. The noodles had that umami flavour made from emulsifying salt water and oil. Fish Florentine was tasty and creamy and cheesy but the fish quantity could have been better. The wait time was a bit long. I loved the decor and vibe of the place.

Top class restaurant near Newtown probably the most reasonably priced restaurant with great quality food be it bengali cuisine, chinese or indian. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Mocktails are good but can be better. Fish orly is must try dish of ROC. Lasooni fish tikka is also a must try.

Good food. however serving time is quote long. attentive staff. ambience could be better with acoustic control as the din of crowd was bit too loud.

I visited Roots of Calcutta on a friend's recommendation, and while the food was good enough for 2 stars, the overall service needs serious attention. I’m sharing this as an unbiased review because the restaurant genuinely has potential. The location and décor are good, but the staff currently bring down the overall experience. Waiters need much better menu knowledge and training when I asked about a dish's taste, I was simply told it would be “good to eat” instead of being properly guided. The LIIT was particularly disappointing in terms of balance and portioning. After having hundreds of LIITs, this was unfortunately one of the weakest I've had. Even small things matter: the gatekeeper could welcome and guide guests, and when a requested stirrer wasn't available, someone should have communicated that instead of leaving it unresolved. I also noticed employees using the customer washroom and staff/kitchen movement through the dining area, which affects the experience.

They served us vermicelli in place of noodles the waiter has no knowledge and provided incorrect information. People have hyped it the food is average.
