Sabir's hotel is one of the jewels in the rich Kolkata food crown. Known for their Mutton Rezala, this unassuming eatery exists in the business district of the city. Draped in lush red and green, it almost feels like you are in the den of a Mohun Bagan fan. We went there to try their famed Rezala and boy were we pleased. I haven't tasted a lighter rezala than this. They made it heavier where it should be-- the fat-heavy juicy mutton piece. You'll get a single big-ass piece in a plate submerged in silvery gravy. Their biryani is above average but lighter on spices. We also tried their bharta. A bit sweet but has a different punch to it than run-off the mill mughlai eateries. We even found the Tandoori Roti soft which isn't the case in most places. Definitely recommend. You shouldn't miss out on this gem if you are really digging into the culinary mud that is Kolkata.

This place in Chandni Chowk has been a Cult Favourite among people and stands as a legendary place in the heart of kolkata. People from different states make a compulsory visit here every now and then to try their famous Mutton Rezala with Naan. This place is most famous for its iconic Rezala, a fragrant, yogurt-based mutton curry with subtle spices that has become synonymous with the restaurant itself. Suggested : Pair it with warm, buttery Naan or fragrant Biryani for an unforgettable meal. [ Don't miss out their Mutton Chanp as well. You simple can't miss it.]

As one of the oldest restaurants in the country, Sabir's Hotel remains a culinary legend. We finally got to try their renowned Mutton Rezala with tandoori roti. The mutton was tender, though slightly fatty. We also ordered the tandoori chicken and the mutton special biryani, both of which featured soft, juicy, and succulent meats. To finish, we enjoyed the rich and flavorful Shahi Tukra. P.S. Be aware that the seemingly complimentary salad is actually an extra charge.

Visited on 26th October 2024. It is a very old restaurant in this area. Coning to food the taste was amazing we ordered butter naan, laccha paratha, chicken biriyani and chicken bharta. Butter naan and paratha was amazing in taste, biriyani was ok ok and the chicken bharta was also good it came with one boiled egg also. Quantity was good. Atmosphere is not that great as it is a very old restaurant also not that much hygienic.

Lunch at Sabir’s, Chandni Chowk, was nothing short of a culinary pilgrimage. The Special Mutton Biryani arrived looking promising, but the rice was noticeably dry and lacked the succulence one would expect from a signature preparation. The biriyani aloo compensated for the 2 pieces of undercooked mutton. The accompanying salad and chilled beverages provided a refreshing counterpoint to the richness of the meal, while the tandoori rotis were impeccably prepared—soft, warm, and ideal for scooping up every last morsel of gravy. However, the undisputed crown jewel of the feast was the Mutton Rezala; velvety, aromatic, and exquisitely balanced, it possessed a richness that lingered long after the meal had ended. In all seriousness, Sabir’s ought to secure a patent for this Rezala. It is not merely a dish; it is an institution in itself—a testament to culinary craftsmanship that few establishments can hope to replicate. There are restaurants that serve food, and then there are places like Sabir’s that serve heritage on a plate. Every bite carried the unmistakable imprint of authenticity and legacy. That said, the mutton in the biryani was undercooked and fell short of expectations, making the overall experience somewhat mixed despite the restaurant’s evident strengths. One notable drawback, however, is the restaurant’s insistence on accepting cash payments only. In an era where digital transactions have become second nature, this policy poses a considerable inconvenience and can prove genuinely problematic for patrons who do not habitually carry cash. A dining establishment of such stature would greatly benefit from embracing modern payment options. Despite this limitation, Sabir’s remains a destination well worth visiting for anyone seeking a distinguished taste of Kolkata’s legendary Mughlai cuisine—particularly for what may very well be one of the finest Rezala the city has to offer.

Sabir's Hotal is one of the iconic restaurants located in Chandani Chowk. It is famous for its Rezala. We had their Mutton Biryani, Chicken Chap and Firni. Biryani was great with a well cooked Mutton piece. Chicken Chap seemed a bit sweeter than our expectations. The Firni was nice too. Their service was very fast, especially if you order these well-known dishes. The waiter are also well behaved.

Used to come here a lot during childhood. Now 10 years later, I've started frequenting the place again. Have to say, quality has fallen considerably. Mutton biriyani, mutton rezala and chicken tikka are good. Rest of the menu is lacking in flavor or chicken pieces are too small.

I have ordered a parcel of 3 items but they have given only, 2 items but I have paid for 3 items. I contacted them later with a complaint but they didn't respond. I couldn't expect such a cheating from such an old reputed restaurant.
