Ordered three bottles of Hoegaarden and heard the live music for some time. Stayed for about half an hour and then went to Roxy, on the other side.

The only good thing about this place is probably the music. While I was in the smoking room a rat came in from the kitchen for company, got bored and went back in. I couldn't dare to order any food after witnessing that. Also, there was some extra 12% added on the bill apart from GST, which upon asking even they couldn't explain what was it for. The appropriate name would be 'Go To Someplace Else'.

The place is run by money thirsty bribers. They come and introduce themselves prior to key-events as if they are welcoming his majesty only to later run away and send their 3rd class waiters to fight like invadering flees. And worst of all - they misbehave the most with the guests of the artists and performers. One beer costs 800 for their misbehaving service. Also snacks take about 45-60mins to arrive and then they’ll be cold and wet. They’ll force you to pay for things you never ordered and they’ll call it as - “You cancelled this but we had already made it”. Worst of all - you enter 1hr prior to happy hours, they’ll make you wait for 2hrs to serve you your alcohol orders and ensure you pay up 5 times the actual MRP (forget happy hour pricing). They have become over popular owing to their timelessness but they have started feeling they are insurmountable. So if you want to enjoy some music and waste liquid cash, black money and other stuff please go. But if you want to enjoy quality time, good service, good music and a feel of nostalgia — Calcutta has literally, some place else and not someplaceelse.

We had visited SPE on the 20th Oct on the day of Ponchomi. I think it’s been the worst experience at SPE ever. The place looks run down. The starters were ok and not really worth the money. The live band was supposed to start at 11.30 pm but finally the band came on stage at 12.45 am. Also never expected a Hindi band on stage. It killed my expectations from SPE. I don’t think I will ever visit SPE again. We go there for the nostalgia. The management has to take note and revive the place. Don’t take your customers for granted. And BTW they had a cover charge as well.

This place is running on old glory. Prices are damn high. Food is below average. Cocktails are just okayish. The only good thing is music but unfortunately I went to this place after almost 10 years and found a weird band who took almost 2 hours to set the stage and sang a song in wrong notes. HIGHLY DISGUSTED WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME
