We, the Bengalis are always emotional about our roots and culture, and whenever we get a chance to remember our forgotten days, we become sentimental. Bringing back the taste and aroma of the golden era, Sonar Tori has come up with the Poila Boishak special Menu. The elaborate thalis are meticulously curated by the patrons to give us a true essence of Bengali cuisine. This Poila Boishak come down to Raichak on Ganges and spend some quality time with your loved ones. There are two types of thali here - Sonar Tori Thali and Gramin Thali. You have options in both Veg and Non Veg.

Recently, I visited Sonar Tori at Ganga Kutir (Raichak on Ganges) & was amazed by the delicious, soulful & mind-blowing bengali food that I had! They say that it is quintessentially Bengali in every sense: sight, sound, smell, taste & touch & they've totally lived upto their motto! Their amazing Bengali curations left me spellbound. The vintage rustic ambiance, the calm & serene vibe, the perfect atmosphere, wonderful hospitality, brilliant food & drinks makes it a 10/10 place to be in for lunch/dinner with friends & family & therefore bags my recommendation!

the staff was brilliant, so friendly and courteous. They kept checking with us if we need anything else, if we are ok, how is the food. The food was delicious, fine dining at its best. The pocket pinch is little on the higher side, we paid 1600 for each thali. But all over the experience and the food was to remember.

Fantastic food in a serene and cultural environment that gives you the authentic rural Bengali essence! Will come back to raichak simply for the experience of eating here again.

We had our lunch at Sonar Tori restaurant at Raichak On Ganges during our recent stay at Ganga Kutir....first of all I would like to mention about the decor & ambiance.....it is decorated as a village house with some old world furniture & decor items....and it's breathtakingly beautiful.....not only the inside of the restaurant is beautiful but the outside is also decorated as a village....Rabindra Sangeet was playing throughout....we enjoyed the ambiance to the fullest Coming to the food, we had only one veg & one nonveg thali option....due to pandemic the rush is less so they are not providing many options....we opted for nonveg thali...the price is bit on the higher side....the cost was 1300 per thali.... Bhetki Paturi was lip smacking, mutton & chicken item was also very good....veg options like Sukto, mix veg, cholardal, begun vaja was good....one thali is more than enough for one person... 2 thalis are enough for 2adults & one kid...my review will be incomplete without the mention of helpful & courteous staffs....so overall a very good experience

I would have given a five star but is disappointed by a misinformation given by the management over phone. Our sole purpose was to try out the Zamindar thali in Sonar Tori and called the restaurant to confirm if the same is served for dinner. We were answered positively. So we landed there on a Tuesday night for dinner and were told that the thali is not available for dinner except for Saturdays and Sundays. With a sad heart, we ordered whatever else were available at the moment and had a sumptuous meal. Though what they served were all delicious and juicy, we came back home much discontent.

This place will surely make you revisit the typical household of the Bengali zamindars. The ambience is amazing with mouth melting set dining. Even with this amazing setting along the Ganges, it lacks efficient service. There is a long waiting for nearly everything.Waiting for a seat, then for the food (even though the food is fixed thali system). If they could engage the guest with some refreshments and serve a little faster while dining then anyone would love revisit again and again.

Visited this restaurant in Ganga kutir for lunch and ordered Bhojer thali and prawn malaikari as an additional dish. The thali was quite basic and regular Bengali food compared to the price. However the prawn malaikari they served was completely uncooked and was smelling of raw prawns! They put uncooked prawns in a thick oil and cream gravy. It was completely tasteless and even more disgusting in smell. We also noticed that the prawn was not cleaned properly. Would suggest not going there if in Ganga kutir.

It was underwhelming to say the least. In the name of providing a traditional experience, the place gives an old dingy vibe. There was an old bed and some random stuff dumped on the way in to the restaurant. Who keeps a bed in a restaurant! The upkeep of the eating area seemed questionable with dull looking plates and glasses. The chairs and tables were almost in shambles. The food was overedly expensive and taste less. They have only thalis available, which is again a waste because the standard of the food-items were extremely mediocre. We ordered ilish separately for our entire party of six, which was again unnecessarily pricey and bland. When one of the pieces turned out to be a bad one and we asked to change it, we were told that it was the only big fish they had available. It was almost as if the chef was too lazy to cut and prep another piece of fish. Disappointing! The rest of the service was just as pathetic, holding back the chutney and desserts, until we asked for it. "Aro chutney lagle debo!" was the narrative when we had ordered multiple thalis, which should have included separate servings anyway. This place is completely overrated and is not welcoming at all. Hated it and will strongly advise against visiting there!

Too overpriced for what it offers. I have had a full Buffett at a 3 star hotel in Singapore for less. The location is over hyped. The fort was reconstructed. Nothing original. Save your money and go to some authentic place.
