I went to Sonargaon last weekend with my family. I had pre booked so got our seats as soon as we went. Services was good as we were provided with menu, water and roasted papad as soon as we were seated. We had ordered Fish Fry and Paneer tikka in starter. It had one of the best taste and quality that I have ate in quite sometime. The fish was fresh and paneer was creamy. For dinner we had ordered butter nan, dhania murg and paneer sonargaon. The chicken had tender pieces and it was absolutely delicious. Paneer was top notch and butter nan, wow, it was fresh and soft. The food was worth the price they charge. The only thing that can be improved is the noice, but then it’s the customers that make it rather than the restrau. Also, do not forget the complementary meetha paan, it’s a must🩷🩷

Love this place! The bar is generally quite high when you visit a Taj restaurant and it does deliver in terms of the service and the food. they had thoughtfully catered to my prawn allergy in the set thali. A nice decent place, primarily serving Bengali cuisine, definitely give it a try if you are in town and want to get something apart from just food. the experience is different altogether.

Following a recent dining experience at Sonargaon, it's obvious that the cuisine is outstanding. Credits to Shankar for efficiently handling the reservation process. However, there's a notable shortfall in the attentiveness and politeness of the in-house staff. I frequently found myself seeking out servers for various needs such as placing orders, settling bills, and acquiring cutlery. The service is disappointing, to say the least!

This place is good for the overall ambience and a semi-premium experience. Although places within Taj, the luxury is not presented in this restaurant. Well, prices doesn’t say so. You are actually paying premium for a semi-premium experience. Food wise, they have their own version of certain authentic dishes. Service is moderate.

Service needs to be more attentive considering Taj is a five star property competing with Oberoi. The wait staff here were are super polite once a request is made. But it is a tad bit exasperating to remind them that water wasn't served or the plate at the exit containing the complementary betel leaves is empty. Overall a decent experience. The mutton dishes (the Raan starter & Nalli gravy main course ) were exquisite.

Very poor experience. The tandoori fish and the chicken malai tikka was an absolute disappointment. The fish was very dry and the malai tika requires more than just a fork to cut. Please steer clear from the Sh** shorba, the chef has no clue what he wanted out of that shorba. In places like Taj you expect attention to detail, the warm hospitality which was absolutely missing from the person attending our table, do not want to name the person but Taj should really look into putting their staff through proper training. I saw people sending back dish with leftover food and complain about it. The chef came out to not receive compliments but to hear that the fish was stale. Never stepping my foot into this property. Kolkata has a lot of options which are far far better than this. Would request you to not come to this restaurant. It is a shit show.
