It is situated on the 8th gloom of fort Knox building. I went with a colleague of mine. Had veg exotic mushroom Ramen and spicy mushrooms sushi rolls which were utterly delicious. In beverage we had ginger beer and sangria which were good. And lastly we ended our meal with Coco Caramel, it's a smooth creamy and melted in mouth and one of the best dessert I had recently. The cherry on the top is the view at the sundown time. It's the best experience

This restaurant offers a stunning ambience with pleasant lighting and a spacious interior, making it a comfortable and inviting place to dine. The service is attentive, and the food is excellently prepared, with the staff accommodating customizations to suit your preferences. However, the music can be somewhat loud, which is the only downside. Overall, it's a wonderful choice for an enjoyable dining experience.

Absolutely loved the food and ambience here! Although it has merged with Monkey Bar we ordered food from the Fatty bao menu and was not disappointed for a single item. Loved the prawn chili oil dim sum. The salmon sushi was fresh and oh! so heavenly. The tiger beef from Monkey bar menu was bit off as it was too oily. The Japanese cheesecake was okayish. But 5 stars for the rest of the items and the service.

Excellent place to hang out! Their food quality is excellent! Probably the best ramen you can get in Kolkata! Try their tantanmen also!!

Trendy Flavorsome Lunch @ The Fatty Bao, Kolkata ☺ Fort Knox (Camac Street) based The Fatty Bao is popular since it's inception for both good food and relaxed vibe. Of late, due to it's merger with Monkey Bar, the ambience is not so relaxed but still it's nice and lively. Few weeks back we visited this outlet and ordered a veg sushi roll, a dim sum, two baos, steamed rice with both red and green curries and two fancy desserts. We absolutely loved the experience. #vfr958

Important: There is no restaurant called The Fatty Bao anymore. According to the people in reception, it has merged with the Monkey Bar 3 years back and together they are a full fledged pub now. I came with my family to get a good Japanese fine dine experience but ended up having to compromise to get a pub experience. This is mentioned no-where in Zomato until now.

The veg bao was terrible. Udon noodles were just doable. The cheesecake was good.

Atrociously poor service, terribly loud music (couldn’t hear my own thoughts, let alone my friend who came with), there was pretty much no lighting there it was dark and dingy. This place could use a real facelift. Had to call quite a few times to even get seated at a table (even though the restaurant was at maybe 40% capacity lol). The pomposity is beyond. Bao was alright, not bad. Prawn and chive dumplings were full of garlic and the prawn was smelly, I thought I’d get food poisoning. Literally left to go to another restaurant in less than an hour because everything was horrible (ever since it merged with Monkey Bar), what you see is not what you get at all. And to add the cherry on top, after paying the bill (which included service tax), we were leaving and one of their staff was waiting outside of the restaurant and asked us “Ma’am, humare liye kuch?”. What do we pay service tax for? Also we had never seen him before and he never did anything for us, so not sure what he meant. He kept insisting until the lift came for us, and it was honestly very awkward. I hope this place shuts down. Never ever going back there again. Yuck.

Food was excellent no doubt! We had few issues 1. No where it was mentioned that Monkey Bar & The Fatty Bao, both are merged now! We wanted to spend some quality time with family at The Fatty Bao, but the restaurant doesn't exist anymore. 2. We have visited a lot of Pubs in India or outside, and never experienced such a loud atmosphere! We felt it was unhealthy to stay there for a longer time & finally we left after finishing the starter. 3. The Music was very Loud. They charged 1K per person, and we were 4 in number and we eventually had to pay 4K at the beginning & we regretted in 5 mins as we realised that if we need to converse with each other we have to shout high, in order to be heard. Thanks to the horrible loud music it killed the entire mood and the reason to party. 4. We requested to lower the sound but we were unheard!
