Visited Vojon Rosik in Esplanade and had a fantastic Bengali lunch. The Veg Thali (₹449) is packed with authentic Bengali flavours and generous portions. From Basmati Rice, Basanti Pulao, Dudh Sukto, Sona Moong Dal, Jhuri Aloo Bhaja, Bhorta, Special Sabji, Chutney, Papad, Rosogolla, Mishti Doi, and Ice Cream, every item was fresh and delicious. The Non-Veg Thali (₹499) is equally impressive with Macher Matha Diye Sona Moong Dal and other traditional Bengali dishes. We also tried the Fish Fry, which was crispy outside and soft inside, and the Gandharaj Ghol, which was super refreshing. The ambience is clean and comfortable, service is quick, and the staff are polite and attentive. It's a great place for a family lunch if you're craving authentic Bengali cuisine in Esplanade/Dharmatala. Definitely one of the best Bengali thali spots in Kolkata. Highly recommended, and I'll be visiting again!

Quiet good, mutton pieces could have been more tender, the free welcome drink was too salty to consume

I visited this restaurant after being impressed by its strong Google rating and more than 2,000 reviews, expecting an authentic Bengali dining experience. Unfortunately, the reality was far different. Several items listed on the menu were unavailable, which was disappointing from the start. Communication was also challenging, as the staff struggled to communicate in Hindi or English, making it difficult to place orders and discuss concerns. We ordered a Special Mutton Thali, but when the food arrived, it was cold. After we pointed this out, the food was taken back and reheated. Unfortunately, the reheating only made things worse—the mutton appeared overcooked, the dal tasted stale, and the vegetables seemed burnt from excessive reheating. When we requested a replacement for the dal, it was served back in the same bowl, with food stains around the edges, which did not reflect acceptable hygiene or presentation standards. The most surprising part was that a service charge was added to the bill despite the poor food quality and service. It was removed only after we objected. What disappointed me most was the gap between the restaurant’s reputation and the actual experience. When customers pay premium prices at a restaurant known for authentic cuisine, they expect fresh food, quality service, and attention to detail. If the owner or management were served the same meal and received the same service that we experienced, would they consider it acceptable?
