some of the best food in lucknow. you get sooo much more than you pay for. brilliant kakori kebabs and incredible biryani. this place does not need your patronage, but if you are a self respecting food lover with any palate to speak of, this will be your holy pilgrimage. what an institution. it's one of those places that make it worth spending a lifetime in a city like lucknow.

A restaurant which is over 100 years old and still striving with serving the best possible meals to it's customers! This is Ulte Tawe ka mughlai paratha. Made with flour, milk, semolina, carrom seeds ... so soft that it melts in mouth. Mutton Shami kebab is always a personal favorite! And shami kebab is their signature dish .

One best thing I saw that They don't use Broiler chicken meat and Prepare "Desi Chicken meat" best quality. Highly Recommended. They are the one who prepare real Nawabi Taste food Since Decades.

Sakhawat is a tall standing example of Awadhi cuisine, the food at this place is garnished with lethal doses of affection. I have never had a sad meal at sakhawat. Being a regular at this place and the restaurant having shifting menu through the week has helped me gnaw almost everything the chef has made, also the only chef owned restaurant in town. The love with which the food is served will make you feel home every time. Sakhawat holds the best of everything. Their food is a reminder to people of Lucknow of the greatness of mughlai cuisine. The kebabs are delectably melt in your mouth kind, their mutton biriyani is an alternate kick on the yakhni biriyani of Lucknow. The fish just falls off the bone every single time: perfectly cooked. Every mutton preparation at sakhawat is off the bone and flavour bomb in your mouth. It is just amazing to taste the mutton recipes at this place, somehow the chef has learnt to keep the flavour of mutton intact while adding layers of spice and aromatic flavours. I have given it 4 starts just for the sole reason that there isint any decent seating space at the restaurant, and food of such quality must be eaten at an arms reach to the kitchen! You’re godsent to the Awadhi cuisine Godspeed!

Sakhawat restaurant, is part of Lucknow non veg lovers history since generations. This eatery which started from a garage like place in Kaiserbagh continues to be popular amongst foodies even with so many great non veg joints in town.Went with a friend for late lunch and had piping hot Parathas with their famous mutton shami kababs. The onion flavoured mutton boti kabab stole the show ,I must say!!Having the meal with plates on car bonnet remains a fav childhood memory which was carried in current times too!

I believe there chief and even staff was highly qualifiedThe food quality is nice and even not very expensive. For a plate of 4 Shami kabab 2 mughlai paratha and half mutton Biryani with a added beverage was Rs 340

It is believed that just like Tunday is for Galawati kababs, Idris is for Biryani/Pulao, Rahim is for Nihari and Mubeen is for Pasanda, Sakhawat is supposed to be for Shami kababs, which are the fried cousins of the Galawati kabab. People also recommend trying the Kakori and Boti kababs here. Once they also had the very artful Sutli kababs, but no longer. Even the Kakori kababs are available just 3 days a week. Knowing its legendary status, but not having visited it in over a decade and a half, a friend and I decided to try it. We were seated in the basement, and a teenaged server with golden hair and ripped jeans danced towards our table. We ordered Shami kababs, Kakori kababs and Boti kababs with Thums Up, Parathas and Rumali Rotis to accompany them. The Shami kababs were standard and decent. But the server had served 3 Shami and 1 Galawati kabab in a 4 kabab plate, explaining that they were out of Shami kababs and throwing consent out the exhaust vent. It would have been ok if they tasted good, but they had the typical extreme sourness associated with staleness. They were going bad, and we were guinea pigs in the restaurant's experiment about when will people start noticing the change in taste of kababs going bad. The kakori kababs tasted good, and the boti kabab, though not the best in the world, was good too. The Parathas were very tasty. We were disappointed at the sluggish service though. The golden tufts of hair kept getting into the server's eyes making him have an irritable attitude and not letting him walk quickly or properly, so my sympathies with him. Overall, it was very sad to witness this fall from grace of a once legendary restaurant. Maybe the location and the Shami kabab dish in itself contributed to the same. Wouldn't recommend as one could easily find so many better options for good local food elsewhere.

Heard a lot about this restaurant. Therefore went for dinner on a weekend. Ordered shami kababs for which they are very famous, kakori kababs and mutton chop. Shami kababs were good mutton chops were delicious but kakori seemed to be stale. The service is pathetic. They don’t even ask for water. Ignoring everything but the real problem was that after having their stale kababs i had a really bad stomach for 2-4 days. It’s so sad to see such a pathetic condition of once a legendary restaurant. Will not recommend at all. Please eat at your own risk.
