I had a highly disappointing and frustrating experience at Novotel Lucknow last night for their dinner buffet. As a premium star-category hotel, you expect a certain standards hospitality, but this visit was a complete waste of money. The issues began right at the buffet counters: Cold Food Across the Board. From the soups to the main courses, the entire buffet layout was cold. The hot and sour chicken soup was completely les salted, the starters were cold, and the crumb-fried fish was entirely tasteless devoid of salt or herbs. The chicken pieces were overcooked, cold, and incredibly chewy. Severe Lack of Non-Veg Options, as a non-vegetarian, I found the options incredibly limited. There was not a single non-vegetarian gravy dish on the buffet to pair with Naan. When I brought this to the server's attention, I was shockingly told to "have it with fish curry"—an absurd pairing that shows a complete lack of culinary planing. Out of sheer hunger I ate cold food. I want my money back.

Very disappointing experience at The Square, Novotel Lucknow. I had booked through Zomato District because it advertised 50% off on the total bill, but upon reaching the restaurant, the staff denied that such an offer could be applied the way it was presented. They informed us beforehand that the discount was not applicable on buffet or à la carte food and could only be used on additional items like liquor purchased over the buffet. This was never clearly communicated while booking and felt extremely misleading. To make matters worse, they also denied placing orders through the “Scan Me” QR system available on their own tables, even though it routes through their own platform. Because of all this confusion and refusal to honor the offer as expected, we decided not to order anything at all and left disappointed. Misleading promotions and poor customer handling completely spoiled the experience.

I had dinner at this hotel and opted for the ₹2,800 buffet, but it did not meet my expectations. Tasteless and cold served starters Most of the dishes were served cold, which significantly affected the dining experience. Even the moong dal halwa was served cold. There were very limited dessert options, fruits were scarcely available, and the veg raita had already finished and was not replenished. Overall, the quality and variety of the food did not justify the price. The buffet needs better food temperature management, timely refilling of items, and a wider selection to match the premium pricing.
