I dined at Zao on 11th of December, 2025. I usually don't review places but the service I received at Zao has compelled me to write it here. Our servers at the restaurant were hands down the best servers I have ever seen. I am a very well travelled person who loves a good restaurant. Servers at Zao stood out. They were great at serving, always on foot for our needs, made us feel so special. What made me extremely impressed was how they were so receptive of my cue!!! I planned a surprise birthday and the accuracy with which they understood or even predicted my needs blew me off! They made my day a success. Honestly, it's rare to find people who understand your needs with such little words. Food was okay. They have Indianized the dishes (what's new?) I ordered Veg Tempura, Thread Chicken, Japanese Udon Noodles & Crystal Dumpling. Veg Tempura was such a let down! 1/5 it was even real Tempura tbh. The rest of the food was kind of average, tasty but that umami was lacking which Japanese food is famous for. Crystal Dumpling though - 4/5 Recommendation: Offer all the sauces when serving Asian food in a personal platter and every person should have their own little bowl for condiments rather than using a spoon every time. I don't know if I am able to convey it or not, the feeling of a public sauce platter was icky.

Really good food. Ordered crispy mushroom with curry leaves and veg shanghai noodles along with different alcohol. The alcohol was top notch and not harsh. Crispy mushroom with curry leaves was great as a starter. Mango pudding as dessert was highlight! Highly recommend this for a lovely evening or dinner!

Every dish we ordered was delicious. The service was prompt and the live music made the ambience pleasant. Our server was ms yashoda who gave our table very good service and the overall experience made us definitely wanting to visit again

We had an excellent lunch buffet at Zao. Sadashiv and Raju really looked after us well. A must visit place in lucknow.

Zao, an asian place in the by-lanes of Gomti Nagar, offers a wide range of choices. The restaurant serves the usual asian options, the baos, sushis and dumplings as well as some interesting additions like the chocolate roll. On the afternoon that I visited this place, it was scantly occupied. Finding a table was not an issue. The place still had the Christmas decor on and looked welcoming. We ordered korean chicken bao, hakka noodles and chocolate roll. The taste was good and the experience was satisfactory. I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a nice lunch (or dinner, perhaps) with their family, friends or loved ones. The menu offers good options to experiment. The price is bit on the higher side, but the experience justifies it in my opinion.

Let me start that I absolutely love Zao. It isn’t go to place since 2022 and I have celebrated most of my life milestones at this place. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great. But lately what has been troubling me is that Zao has been participating in ‘shrinkflation’. Initially they used to serve 3 baos and now they’re serving 2 baos and they’ve even increased the prices. I understand that restaurants have to keep up with the current market but the price hike is insane. Their sushi used to be 499 and then they increased it to 599 and now it’s 799? We went to have their buffet on Friday and we were informed that because of the gas crisis they are not serving buffet anymore. I would have appreciated if they had updated this.

I've been very regular at zao the food was amazing earlier but it has definitely gone down. it is my go to place and it's sad to see that such a nice place has let down the quality of food .

flat 10 pct off was on total bill, then why it has been postponed to next bill payment
