I had heard about Murugan Idly shop but never been to one. On my recent holiday last week, happened to spot this nearby as we drove in the streets of Madurai and I knew I had to stop to taste. The hype is not one bit exaggerated. It’s the best Idly in the world. Super soft and so fresh. The Chutneys served are delicious too and service is so from the heart and loving. The rates are so so pocket friendly and place is super clean, spacious and hygienic even though ambience is basic. We ordered filter kaapi too. For 2 plates of Idly and 2 coffees we spent only ₹ 122, which is brilliant. Loved it

Probably the greatest idlis I've had in my life, the fare here is so simple and light, you won't even realise the rate at which you're gulping down the food. While you can't go wrong with any dish on their menu, their ghee podi idli is a must try, it's perfection itself. Truly hoping I get a chance to try this out again some day.

If you don't have the issues with cramped street and a traditional eating joint, then this place can offer the best available Idli in the region. With a spicy Podi and varieties of finger - licking chutneys at its core, the soft Idli and Dosai make way for a good meal. The prices are very reasonable.

The varieties of chutney are so tasty and good. I never taste these kind of delicious chutney. Those chutney will tempt to eat more. Food is served using banana leaves that is traditional and healthy too.

I have to say Murugan Idly Shop was quite the revelation. Had heard a lot about this place from friends in Chennai as well but the food outdid all my expectations. The Idlis were unbelievably soft. The Podi Idli was very good and almost melted in my mouth. Also, tried the Jigarthanda which was pretty good and helpful in providing some respite from the sweltering heat outside. Also, tried the Onion Utthapam which was pretty decent as well. Finished the meal with the ever reliable filter coffee. This place is a simple no frills Idli shop with no pretenses but if you want the authentic Madurai experience, I definitely recommend this place if you're in Madurai. You won't be disappointed.

Great ambience, prime location, good food - taste wise, varieties and portion size. A bit pricey though. This restaurant first started here in Madurai then they expanded to many outlets in Chennai etc with the success here. We had normal jigarthanda, karupatti jigarthanda, idlis, Mysore masala dosa, chettinad dosa, onion podi utthappam- all were tasty! Definitely must try and revisits.

Taste was very good, but one Ghee dosa missed. How can fallow this, i have not hotel contact no.Who has responsible for that, check the orders and pack in future.
