Great food, but bit costly . You can have italian cuisine only here in Madurai. Taste is very good. Especially that garlic prawn, which is epic

Good Italian food is very hard to come by in a city like Madurai where Biryani and Parotta is king, but Phil's Bistro comes to the rescue! Located in a fairly quieter part of KK nagar, it's a quaint little place, dimly lit and the walls a lined with photos of the chef with his top hat and framed newspaper cutouts about the chef and food reviews. Great place for a date or a quiet lunch with some friends and family. Staff are quite nice, polite and quite willing to describe the dishes. Service is slow however, but it was nice of them to tell us that the food takes time to be served. You won't feel bored though, the telly shows recipes which are showcased on the chef's YT. Quite useful if you want to learn something. Coming to the food, for drinks we'd gone for a Virgin Mojito and a Kiwi mocktail. Quite refreshing, nothing to write home about. For started we'd ordered Phil's lamb Meatballs and Crab crostini. The crab crostini was not on the menu and was suggested to us by the server as a special. The lamb meatballs were coated in bread crumbs and fried and served with a bit of tomato sauce. Very tasty, crispy on the outside, warm and slightly crumbly on the inside. Properly seasoned and a good amount of garlic and herbs. Bonus points on the tomato sauce too, a slightly tart just how I like it. Next came the crab crostini. It's cooked crab which is placed over a base of toasted garlic bread. Crispy, garlicky and surprisingly they didn't cheap out on the crab, tasted quite fresh and well seasoned too. So the next time you visit, please ask for it. For the mains we had the Spaghetti Bolognese and the Lamb Bourguignon. The pasta was pretty good! Great portions and full of meat and sauce. The sauce is definitely the hero. Lamb bourguignon was decent, nothing great. Wanted to try the tiramisu, decided we'll do it during our next visit. The bill had come to 2.2K, not bad to be honest. Considering we had Crab and lamb and the food is of good quality, I would'nt mind paying good money for it too. Nevertheless it is a bit expensive for the city, so it would be advisable that you visit on special occasions and stuff. To sum it up great food, good service but a higher price, definitely a must try.

Food is tasty. A dish would cost between 400 to 500. But the service is very poor. They do not care if you have been properly attended. I was a regular customer until today. I have been highly disappointed by the service which was provided to me today. The server placed Lasagna direct from the oven. It was so hot that it could have burnt my skin. I asked him to call the chef, but he refused. I told him that he could have at least cooled down the plate before serving. He simply told that they would serve that Lasagna in that manner only to all their guests. I had not even touched the food. I got irritated by his reply, just paid him a round sum for my soup and I even paid for another item which I had ordered but not received and started leaving. He cared the least, he got the money and left for the next table. If you are concerned only about the quality of food and not the cost or service, Phil's bistro might be your place.

Was one of our favourite places few months ago...but not up to its set standards over last three months ..food tastes bad and same dishes are not the same which we used to enjoy earlier. We aren't planning to come back any time soon again after worst experience of last three times. Also to mention is staff behaviour, waiter doesn't know details of stuffs and ppl are rude overall to customers..

Very average food ... Taste is not authentic.... And it's over priced for the taste and portion size.... Tried their plum cake yesterday.... Was very average and it costs a fortune ..... So over all not worth a try

Guys, visited the restaurants for my wife’s bday. Without second thoughts, One of the worst restaurants that I’ve ever been, I still can’t get over the fact on why they are so expensive and not worth even half of the price they charge for the dishes. First, we placed the order for the starters and main course together and it took them 50mins to provide the starter alone with a miserable presentation. The quality of the food wasn’t as expected lacked salt in the carbonara, on the other hand the jalapeno and cheese chicken gravy was too salty. Plates and glasses were not provided while seated. Quantity of food was tooo less for the price. Would never recommend to anyone. Please think twice before you visit. If there’s an option for zero I would have opted that.

One of the bad experiences in my life!. I had food poisoning the same day night, they are using expired products ! (The doc told after diagonising). I have been to so many italian, american cusines like Toscano, nolita, Johna’s bistro, coromandel cafe and more. The quality of food matters the most, when you charge so much for a single dish. If you (phil’s) can’t run the business providing fresh food shutdown your business, but please dont try to compromise quality. You can’t even check if a Lasagne is stale or not! before serving it to the customer. You are disgrace to the food industry

Pizza quality is no longer in the high class range. The cheese pizza wih basil was made wih extremely dried basil leaves....never ever seen in a pizza. I was a fan of phils for 10 years....now no longer.....sub standard food

Please don’t ever come here to eat. The food is below average. They really need to improve their food quality . We ordered cheese sticks, pasta and a few other things,.
