Since we're in a coastal region, one definitely needs to eat seafood. However, not knowing what exact seafood to order, we decided to ordered Fish Curry Meals (with the staple boiled rice). Along with that, we also ate Buthai Tava Fry and Crocker Tava Fry (Koddai). Firstly, we were absolutely surprised at the size of the two types of fish ordered - it was much bigger than what we expected! And given the price, it is definitely worth it. 1. Fish Curry Meals: This had boiled rice and a fish curry. The curry was not too spicy, and was delicious. It does have a homely feel to it, so you can have this in case you want to eat some tasty home-style Mangalorean fish curry. 2. Buthai Tava Fry and 3.Crocker Tava Fry (Koddai): As mentioned earlier, the size of the fish was greater than what we expected. The fish was absolutely tasty, with the perfect amount of spice. And the taste of coconut oil used for frying the fish was prominent in these dishes. The masala used for the Koddai fry was amazing! Overall: This was a value for money, delicious, and delightful meal.

The best place in Mangalore to eat if your complete FISH lover! The freshness of fishes even at night will make you fall in love with this restaurant. The powder they serve with fried fishes are next level when u mix em with rice & eat.. They Mackerel fry was too fresh n tasty, by far I can the best Mackerel fry I've had in all these yrs in coastal cities.. The Anjal fish fry had tht aroma & you would get mesmerized with its lip n tongue smacking taste.! The hospitality is very pleasant since we went for dinner & the person who runs the show too was very humble. Staff were very attentive take good care about their customers. This definately recommended if you're a perfect fish lover coz they only serve fishes and not any other seafoods here.!!! #HOTELNARAYANA keep it Rockin' always..

The place is underrated. They cook amazing fish. The place has only fish curry meals. With an option of white or brown rice. And they serve Ganji and buttermilk which is a great add on to the meals. And they bring a big plate which has all the fried fish with fried masala crumbs. And you pick which fish you like. My personal favourite is the Anjal and Pomfret. This place has a limited menu. Just the meals and the choice of fish. But a must try. If you’re ever in Mangalore. Please give it a visit and try going early so you get a place to sit.

Narayana's fish meals sure do hit it out of the park! The fish curry is easily the best I have tasted among all meal spots, and the tawa fried fish comes with choices comprising the various catches of the day. But what really sets Narayana apart is the dry masala that is served - the combo with rice is just pure bliss! My recommendation: The Anjal fish without a doubt ♥️

Highly recommended by close friends & food critics & being close to the Gateway where we were put up, we waited anxiously for Nov 5 th to order lunch. We called in & requested them to keep the order ready. We ordered Anjal fry, mackrel, sardine & two fish meals . The best fish fry I have had & that too at reasonable rates compared to Mumbai. We ordered again on Nov 6 th.

Tucked away in a quiet corner, this place is a come-eat-and-get-out kinda no frills place. Since I was single, I got a table easily on a Sunday. Fish was as fresh as it could get but was very salty, especially the powder that came with it. nonetheless very tasty food. I ate anjal fry, pomfret fry and fish curry meals. It was certainly a meal to remember.

I had heard about Narayana but was reluctant as most of the fish joint does not serve fresh fish but I had not only to change my opinion but would full heartedly recommend that the fish served were not only fresh but their masala tasted very good. one must try if you are a fish lover.

Fish meals - pomfret fry!! No place like this. An absolute must visit for seafood lovers. This is not a place for beautiful ambience. This place is for delicious and honest food!

Had gone there for dinner on my recent visit to Manglore and loved the way they have kept it simple , no menu , just fish meals @ 70/- and assorted fish frys , depending on the fresh catch of the day . Don't know if it was only on the day I visited or even normally they don't carry any prawns , crabs or any other sea food , so will call it a fish fry resturant only not a sea food one .🙃. Had ordered a slice of Anjal fry with my rice thali and was blown over by the super freshness and the lightness of the fish , amongst the best I have ever tasted in Manglore . The masala coating was not thick and overwhelming like in so many other places . I surely highly recommend this place as it has become a close second to my favorite fish place in Manglore, Giri Manja . Am definitely going back the next time I am in town . O k , an update , visited after a long time , so lots have remained the same but lots have changed too . Decided that this mostly is my last visit to this legendry fish fry place . Why ? Ok so for starters what is still the same , first the freshness of fish , and their unique way of frying so it remains light and the freshness comes through along with that crisp fried masala served on the side , surely a treat . And what changed , attitude and prices , both gone northward , while the quality of service has gone down severly . We ordered four fish meals along with 4 pcs of fish , the sar ( fish curry that comes with the meal ) was cold , as were the accompaning vegetables , when we politly requested to have our meal served atleast warm if not hot , we were politly told by the host that atleast our fish fry was hot and as it was just 45 minutes before they closed for the day , they can NOT heat the fish curry or the vegetables , so if we wanted to eat , we eat it the way it was served . Not wanting to spoil our evening we decided to just finish our meals and leave , while pledging never to come back again . BTW , when we were leaving they were still serving guests , who had come after us , with HOT food . Also Anjal fry @ ₹290 & Pomplate @ ₹400 was pricy when compared other good places . Even good food is not worth the attitude .

It’s unreasonably expensive for such a place and location. A small piece of seer fish cost Rs 400. There is no proper place for parking and it’s overhyped. Definitely doesn’t deserve the ratings given on social media and other apps. There are far better places for reasonable price. There is no option of other food like chicken or mutton. Only some selected fish. Definitely can give it a miss.
