Such an old hotel still pretty consistent and hygienic food. Though it has become a bit pricy but still a good option comparing hotels around. Tried their veg Thali and it was super.

Sai Palace, Mangalore The most luxurious place with good vibes for decent food is Sai Palace. It has a huge space for seating for friends and families. Opposite to City Centre, it has become a one-stop place for localities and outsiders. The prices are definitely on the heavier side compared to other places. I had a chance to visit 2-3 times, last time I visited we had Pav Bhaji, Masala dosa, and Tea, the quantity was very less but the quality was superb. They have all the options from breakfast to lunch to evening snacks and dinner along with the sweets option. If you have a high budget and are a fan of veg food you can visit it once. Location: KS Rao Road, Hampankatta, Mangalore

The food at Udipi Cafe is definitely above average — well-cooked and flavorful — but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The service was so poor that it overshadowed the entire dining experience. There was no proper system in place. We waited 20 minutes for a waiter, followed by another 20 minutes for the manager, Mr. Uday. Yet, he never came to speak to us. When questioned, the response we received was baffling — a bizarre justification that he didn’t want to disturb us. Even more disappointing was that the manager struggled with basic communication in common languages, making it difficult to express our concerns. Despite all the inconvenience caused, there was not a hint of an apology or even basic courtesy. A place with decent food but such dismissive and disorganized service is not one I would recommend. Hospitality matters, and in this case, it was completely missing. Extremely disappointed.

The food at Udipi Cafe is good, no doubt. But honestly, what’s the point if the service is this bad? We waited around 20 minutes for a waiter, and then another 20 minutes for the manager, Mr. Uday — who never showed up. When we followed up, we were told he chose not to come because he “didn’t want to disturb us.” That’s not just unprofessional — it’s a completely bizarre excuse. The manager also had difficulty communicating in any of the commonly spoken languages, which made things even more frustrating. And despite all this, not even the slightest apology was offered. Food alone can’t carry a restaurant. The service here made it a really unpleasant experience. Won’t be going back.

I can say this is the worst hotel in the world. Non hygienic and very tasteless food. Very bad and worst behaviour from staff , people are really arrogant n does not listen to customers peacefully and show lot of attitude. Worst and bad hotel. First teach your staff kindness and hospitality to behave with customer. Took too much of time and wasted our time , nobody was ready to provide water , nobody was ready to provide scanner for payment., useless hotel.

Most pathetic and horrible place to be at, the manager doesn't give tables according to who came first he gives tables according to his wish and liking. The food came cold, and the taste was just bad don't waste your money and time

I ordered methi Parata through Zomato. It was almost burnt . It was really bad
