Ideal Ice Cream has become a popular brand all over the world.  If you visit Mangalore often or even rarely, I'm can guarantee you will never leave without going to Pabba's or Ideal Cafe.  Now I'm sure you will be delighted to know that Pabba's Ideal Cafe, Bharath Mall has opened at the ground floor level. Once you enter, you will find the Billing/Ordering Counter right opposite to you.  There are several tables on the ground floor and even more on the first floor.  There are also two mini family rooms connected to the general seating area on the first floor. We had gone with our family friends who were visiting from Mysore. Even though we went on a weekday, the restaurant was massively crowded.  Therefore, we occupied a table upstairs.  There were six of us that evening.  We had a huge variety of dishes for snack/dinner. Here is what we ordered: 1. Gadbad - This is the most famous item of Ideal.  Even if you eat Gadbad anywhere else in the world, it will not be the same. The amalgamation of ice cream, jelly, fresh fruits and nuts makes this dish in a class of its own. You will be able to enjoy this ice cream more if you are on an empty stomach. 2. Parfait - The second famous item is the Parfait which comprises of three flavors of ice cream, nuts, fruits and dry fruits.  This item is served in a smaller glass, but just as filling as a Gadbad. 3. Veg Cutlet -  The best Veg Cutlet in Mangalore is definitely at Ideal.  No one can will come even close. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. One portion comes with two diamond shape cutlets which is served with a piece of Cucumber, Ketchup and Chutney.  The Cutlets were also super hot.  Everyone took a bite and loved it. 4. Paneer Manchurian - One of the best Paneer Manchurian is in Ideal Cafe.  The paneer cubes are succulent and the coating does not break away.  Once I start eating, I cannot stop! It's really yummy.  This is one of the items that I order everytime I visit the Cafe. 5. Veg Biriyani (Half) - I heard a lot of positive reviews about the Veg Biriyani, so had to order it to experience it for myself.  The quantity is right for one person. It comes along with a cool and refreshing raitha. The best part about the Veg Biriyani is the huge pieces of soya chunks - they are my favorite. 6. Samosa - One portion comes with two huge Samosas, Chutney and Ketchup.  The stuffing is a little spicy, so watch out in case you like non spicy food. 7. Combo Meals - Sandwich Combo - This particular combo is sufficient for one person.  It comes with 1 Veg Burger, Half Spicy Corn Sandwich, French Fries and Watermelon Juice.  The Veg Burger is so huge that you might feel full after eating only that.  The Spicy Corn Sandwich is not very spicy. There is a dollop of ketchup in the compartment plate for you to eat with the delectable crispy fries.  The Watermelon Juice is very sweet. 8. Combo Meals - North Indian Combo - You can order this if you are a fan of Chole Batura. It comprises of a single Batura, Chole, Pulav, One Samosa and a glass of refreshing Lassi. The Batura is gigantic, the Pulav is really yummy, Samosa is spicy and to wash all this down is the thick, cold and refreshing Lassi. 9. Choco Lava Cake - When it comes to this type of cake, I will never say no.  The chocolate goodness just flows like the lava when the volcano erupts.  One of the best Choco Lava Cakes I have ever eaten happens to be with Ideal. 10. Chocolate Konero - The youngest one in the Group had ordered this for dessert. You want to know the best part? Eating the last piece of the cone which is like icing on the cake. When you want to place your order, you must go to the counter, order and pay. There is an option to order through the App as well.  Please note that some items may take time such as the Pizza Chilli Lasagna Sandwich.  The prices are quite reasonable. The timings are 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., all 7 days of the week. There is parking available in the underground basement. Do visit when you can!

It is customary to stop at Pabbas when in Mangalore so we visited the place. The original Pabbas was already closed by 9pm so myself and spouse went to their Ideal Cafe which is situated in the ground floor of the mall. I was really impressed with the kind of hospitality and service they offered. Usual experience at popular restaurants is that the entire staff would be rude and arrogant but this place had our hearts! From the guy at the door, the house keeping, the managing staff and the waitress. They would check frequently on us and enquire if food was good and did we receive all the orders! That’s what makes them stand apart I guess! Many new cafés/hotels purely lack this essence. Ice cream and Food- I would give beyond 5 stars! It’s an absolute must visit place in Mangalore.

This place needs no description. Well known spot to savour the famous ice creams. We visited on a Saturday evening when the crowd was relatively less and got a seating without wait. We tried Parafeit, Tiramisu, Cutlet, Mango Pulp juice, Tropical Dhamaka, American Choconut, Dilkush, Paneer Focaccia Sandwich, Makhmali Roti with Kaju Masala, Neer Dosa with Green Paneer Ghee Roast. The ice creams were served quite quick whilst the savoury items took a while but not delayed as such. The savoury items were quite tasty as was the ice creams. Staff are friendly. However, it can get quite crowded as time passes, resulting in long wait times.

Been here 4-5 times and have tried various dishes each time we came here. Since it's a new place, the ambience is bright and welcoming. Service is fast, they literally want you to vacate the table once you finish eating if you go on a weekend. Usually waiting period is 15-20 mins on weekends. We had cutlets 👍 gobi Manchurian👍Mysore masala dosa 👎 focacia bread👍 channa batura👍 makh Mali roti 👍ghee parata 👍 pulav with raita👍, fried rice 👍 special gadbad, dry fruit cocktail to name a few. Ice creams are good. Overall a good place if you want to eat a range of North Indian / chinese/ short eats foods. Wish they open food chains outside Mangalore city for folks who travel all the way from Udupi or further away.

Being placed within a Mall, crowdedness at this outlet was limited as compared to other locations. The unique offering of Ice Cream Thali at this outlet is a favourite attraction for most visitors here (Must try for sure). Though there is nothing great about the offering of flavors, the concept takes it all. Ice Cream Thali comes with Sugar (salt), Strawberry crush (pickle), Dry fruits mix (kosambari), Butterscotch w/ choco syrup, Strawberry w/ crush, Arabian delight w/ fig topping, Blackcurrent w/ topping (4 curries), vanilla slab w/ carrot halwa (rice-rasam), Ipizza (sweet), Marzipaan (beeda)

One of the best ice cream restaurants in the city . The quality of their ice creams is top notch, and also the ambience. The prices are extremely reasonable and the quantity is extremely good. Usually crowded in peak hours but you get a seat after sometime. Service is fast and the taste is awesome. Recommended - Gadbad and Tiramisu Icecream

The cafe that pioneered gadbad Ice cream, the ice creams here rock and the ice cream Thali was the only let down though 🙂 The service is fast and the pricing is fabulous. they have a decent seating space but can get crowded on weekends. however it's a must visit in Mangalore but it shuts early

yesterday I ordered paneer burger and spicy noodles from pabbas ideal cafe. the size of the paneer burger was so small. same paneer burger ibasked parcel one day ..the size of the paneer burger was quite big...why is the difference? first of all when compared to other restaurants here in pabbas quantity is very less when compared to the price.. by the time I njoyed my burger it got finished sovtiny it was. pls don't do that... customer satisfaction is important
