Dining at By The Mekong, located at the Penthouse level of The St. Regis Mumbai, was an exceptional experience. We began with the Prosperity Salad created for the Chinese New Year of the Horse, a vibrant mix of freshly grated vegetables, salmon, sesame seeds and their signature hoisin sauce. As a salad lover, this was a clear highlight, beautifully balanced in flavour and texture. The appetizers reflected impressive freshness and finesse, from the radish cake and steamed prawns with lotus root in chili oyster sauce to the lotus root and water chestnut preparation and the delicately balanced sweet and sour tofu. The zodiac inspired cocktail presentation added a thoughtful touch. I tried the Carthern, a gin based cocktail with subtle kiwi notes, while the Bombay Masala and cranberry mocktails were refreshing and layered. For the main course, the burnt garlic fried rice, Hakka noodles and white garlic gravy with exotic vegetables were comforting and well executed. The Mongolian lamb chops stood out for their refined presentation and beautifully executed flavours. Dessert was indulgent yet balanced. The Cacao 64, with rich cacao, chocolate soil, raspberry sorbet and a touch of rock salt, was perfect for a chocolate lover. The ice cream coupe with custard apple, chocolate and vanilla was equally delightful. On my next visit, I look forward to trying the Air Brulee and the Umpiw chicken. The menu curated by Master Chef Li Qiang reflects over two decades of experience, with dishes that are bold, elegant and subtly layered. Paired with stunning views of the Mumbai skyline from the 37th floor and contemporary chandelier style lighting, the ambience elevates the entire experience. A special mention to Assistant Manager Newlai for her warm hospitality and for helping capture some wonderful pictures. For those who love documenting their dining experiences, she truly does a great job. A refined dining experience that beautifully combines flavour, presentation and ambience.

Went there for my wife’s birthday and requested for a corner table. They said that a corner table would come with a minimum billing. I passed and settled for elsewhere. They put us up next to a corner table where two people were seated who were attended specially by someone in a manner that there was a photographer and a lady who constantly kept interjecting every 5 mins literally. We had no privacy. I also requested we be moved to another table to which they said they were fully booked. I believe that if you have any special guests they you must ensure you place no one else next to them. If you do then atleast ensure privacy. Felt very not special on her special day. Also a complimentary dessert was assured on booking but never served. Frankly a very unpleasant experience.

We booked the private room for 22 people for my parents wedding anniversary and my father's birthday. It was supposed to be a special occasion but By the Mekong did everything in their power to make it a lame and below average experience. From the time of reservation we stressed that we wanted a smooth, delightful experience, worthy of a 5 star for this occasion. They delivered a bare room, told us we could not put up any balloons (the walls were brick) and no music. So the ambience was sad. The worst part was the food and service. For a bill of 1.5 lakh, the service was extremely slow, delayed and apathetic. Cocktails were average and we've had better food from Asian fast food chains. So if you're looking for a memorable experience, don't go here. They will not go even slightly out of their way to make sure you have a good time.

Extremely disappointed with the food. It was way below average. Need a menu refresh and definitely change in chef. The dumplings was 2/10, veggies and noodles was soaked with oil unnecessarily We had blocked a day before near the window side but they declined to allocate. Later they allowed the same seats for other people who did not book prior. Better management required
