We visit almost every alternate Sunday. Food: Recommend: - In veg, we love the bakes beans on toast with cheese and their cold coffee. 5/5 Must try. - In egg, their omlettes with chips is too good. 5/5. Not recommended: - Scrambled eggs on toast - 2/5 Not good. Bland, semi cooked eggs on toast. No flavor nothing. - Akuri on toast - 2/5 Looks good but, they add quite a bit of turmeric and again this is a bit semi cooked so is not very tasty. - French toast - 2/5 Not that good. Very soggy and not that nice. - Mushroom sandwitch - 2/5 Just plain mushrooms in toast, not very flavorful. Service - It is a bit slow.

Love love love this place! Everything I’ve ordered has been made to perfection. Their kheema pav is to die for. Service is the best in the world. Order their hot popcorn with drinks 😋😋

Great place for a relaxed breakfast with friends and family on any day. We went on a Sunday so it was comparatively crowded. Ambiance is nice and homely. Service is prompt and friendly. Food was good too. We were a group of 5-6 so ordered in the following things: -Kheema pao- Simple and delicious - Kheema ghotala-It was okaish. Couldn't point out a major difference between regular kheema and kheem ghotla. - Akuri & pao: Super soft melt in the mouth akuri served on two slices of white bread. Though delicious, it wasn't enough ( in a good way) - Cheese roll: They stole the heart of those who had it. - Chicken sandwich was my personal favourite and a must have. -Chai & lemon soda & orange juice for drinks

I recently went to Cafe New York on recommendation of a friend. The the cramped entrance leads to two sections, a non AC seating and AC seating. Both the sections are kept simple and the use of wood in the interiors and the dim lighting actually evokes nostalgia instantly. A steep staircase leads to a huge pub, you will experience a touch of modernism in this section. The quality of drinks is premium. We had a Kheema Pav and Chicken Fried Rice. The Kheema was awesome, balanced use of whole garam masala. Sadly, the fried rice was too bland and lacked proper seasoning. Recently tried their Chicken Lollipops, they were very tasty and not so oily. The waiters are very friendly. Check out the pictures.

A joint which served non alcoholics with sandwich and coffee is no longer the same. Sad to see an old joint disintegrating like this. Date: 1st Nov 2023. Time: 5.30pm

First of all, this is not a paid review. I hardly write any reviews. But I’m forced to pen down this shocking event that happened at this place Cafe New York at Gamdevi. I’ve been visiting this place literally since I was a child, and have fond memories with my father here. So, Sunday evening, and my wife and I took a stroll down the road from Gamdevi police station, which leads to this place called Cafe New York, which was busy as usual. We both were really tired from a heavy week, and wanted to grab a quick bite and go home and sleep. So as we were waiting outside the establishment (space issues in South mumbai, iykwim) one table was being cleaned up for us. The waiter affirmed that the table was for us. However some four young kids entered and swiftly grabbed their place at our table. Nevertheless the waiter unperturbed by this mockery, and didn’t even pay heed to us while we stood staring like idiots. In spite of this, we both didn’t want to make a huge fuss about what happened, well because apparently the food industry has become like a Mumbai fast local, if you don’t climb in first then just stand on the platform looking at the others clinging on. We went in and started finding some place where we could grab a bite. The other waiters told us to get a place (without actually checking) on the first floor of the same Cafe New York. We went up, and again started looking at a good table to sit at, which again was impossible. Then we found one high table (round tall table with those really tall uncomfortable stools, which everyone hates) and took a seat. What happened next really blew my mind away. Listen carefully! A near 18 year old scruffy waiter boy told us to get up and said “table is for 4”. We got up, and moved 2 steps ahead. Just as we turned and looked behind, the same oversmart waiter boy, gave the same table to 2 grown a** men. I was amused. Embarrassed as you would expect. I went and questioned the boy. His manager (the man who made his mark:P) came and told the boy “inko chod, yeh logon ka order le!” I quote. I swear these were his words. Upon questioning his managing skills, this manager starts yelling at me. The audacity! To summarise, we went, we stared, and got humiliated by these gang of waiters at Cafe New York. The person

absolute thugs, charged 10% VAT and printed 5% on the bill, had to argue to get it reduced to the printed amount, if you are printing it 5% on the bill don't loot the customers by manually writing it as 10%. do not visit the place, the staff is extremely rude on pointing out the flaws

The service over here is really bad. The waiters take quite long to take your order. Water is not served till end of your meal. The meal takes forever to get prepared, waiting time for normal sandwich and omelette was 80min.
