Great vibe, amazing beers & unforgettable food! Gateway Taproom in BKC is easily one of Mumbai’s best hangout spots. The ambience is warm, the music is great and the vibe just feels right — relaxed yet buzzing with energy. Their craft beers, especially White Zen & Doppelganger, were outstanding — fresh, balanced, and full of character. All the food we ordered was simply yumm, but a few dishes truly stood out — the truffle fries (honestly the best ever), the basil hummus (the best-tasting I’ve ever had anywhere in the world) and the churros, which were easily the best I’ve had in India! It’s one of those rare places that gets everything right — food, drinks, service, music and mood. Can’t wait to go back!

#latereview I have had the Gateway beers at a couple of places in Pune and Mumbai but had never been to the taproom. This time, I had the opportunity so decided to visit. They generally offer three complementary tasters of the beers but upon request they offered me four. I tried the Mosaic IPA, Lite IPA, Bombay Porter and the Spiced (Cinnamon) Porter. Absolutely smashing stuff! Had a pint of the Mosaic IPA, Lite IPA and the Bombay porter. Didn’t have the appetite to eat anything, but I hear the eight hour braised tenderloin is good, will try that when I visit them next. The service was prompt. Evan from the service team was very helpful.

We have been regular visitors to Gateway for years now, but hadn’t visited for the last few months. So last evening we decided to go there, assuming that we’d have the same experience as always. We’d almost pre-decided what we’d have (potato skin, kurkure bhindi, truffle rice, chicken sandwich, along with our wives’ favorite drink - Malts Orange and ours (draft beer). So we sat down and just ordered a couple of rounds for all of us without even looking at the menu. It was only while leaving and at the time of paying the bill that we realized how Gateway had ripped us off. To be clear, I’m not blaming them. As a buyer, I should be aware of prices of what I’m buying. But I do want to understand what’s the justification is pricing a vodka cocktail at 1300/- when even far classier places like Yauatcha price then at 750/-. But the greater shock was the price of beer. Each beer glass (500ml) was priced at 830/- rupees! I’ve had beer at places all over India and not even the classiest places price draft beer at these atrocious rates!!! Needless to say, we felt really stupid and cheated. It was not about the cost of the meal but the perceived value of it, which was completely absent. Needless to say, this would be our last visit to Gateway Taproom. PS: btw, the Malta Orange that cost 1300 was bitter and when we ordered for another they said their best bartender would make it but it was only marginally better. And they didn’t even make an effort to placate us by offering a discount on a drink that was clearly below par. That’s the difference between a classy and a money grubbing restaurant, I guess. Never again.

very average beer, either overpowered or no tasting notes at all the most bland stout I've ever had, go to ibc or toit instead

The worst experience of my life. the water was smelling after telling the manager he didn’t acknowledge the fact though it was brought to their attention 3 times. Told the waiter he accepted the water was smelling but the manager just out right refused the claim. He doesn’t have any sense as to how to speak to a customer and deal with them. The bald guy pretending to be the manager also does not know how to deal with the customer, and the actual manager just ran away from the scene. the water piper is full of fungus when we went to take pictures they refused to let us take any pictures. The management is just utter non sense and the bald manager as well who doesn’t know how to do his job properly even a tiny bit. When we confronted them the bald manager and a waiter got agressive and were about to throw hands. They were abusing me and my sister. This is just not done. This kind of behaviour needs some accountability and apology.
