Places serving healthy and authentic yellai saapaadu (meals on a banana leaf) in Bombay are rare finds. Despite skyrocketing inflation, Jeevan Boarding House offers a full, deeply satisfying meal - mostly udupi-style - decent portions, and superbly sincere service even today. The 89-rupee meal I had not just included curry, gravy and kootu, but also came with 4 chapatis (for which I wasn't charged extra), rasam, sambar, curd, pickle, sweet, dal and a plateful of rice. Few places come to mind when I think of multiple servings and prompt service! It warms your heart when you look around and realise people from different backgrounds can still afford and enjoy a meal under one roof. Since the compound where Jeevan Boarding is located is under repair/reconstruction, one has to get past a poorly maintained stretch to get to the well-refurbished hotel. Remember that is an old-school mess-style establishment where platefuls are served by the moment. So don't expect the kind of sanitised ambience you may find at a Starbucks or a Grandmama's.

lately in the hoard of posh, expensive restos, came across a old school classic rea with prime focus on food and service. ordered 5 Thalis shared it among 4 adults +1 male teenage+2 kids aged 10 n 8 respectively. the bill was only for 520 never imagined it would be so low as 1 thali was for 90 rs only. overall its great food at great affordable price just loved it 😍😍😍😍😍😍

If you're looking for a simple and homely food, then Jeevan is the right place to go to in Chembur. I've been eating here quite regularly and have never experienced any tummy trouble. The fare is limited but healthy. But yes...if you're looking for ambience, it's no so good but food was super fresh. Neit and clean place. If you are searching home food test definitely visit their.

Bombay for me is a city of everything for everyone. Whether you wish to go for the absolute finesse in dining or dig up these legendary establishments that do justice of serving wholesome, authentic and finger licking food from the heart, made with affection, served in super fast speed and delightful to sit and savor with a community that drives the true passion of being a Mumbai resident. My Christmas Brunch took a slightly different turn when I stumbled upon a video by @unstumbled on this hidden gem serving delicious banana leaf thalis at just a ridiculous price of below INR 100, making it an unbelievable proposition right in the heart of Chembur since 60 years now ! What makes it more exciting, each day's lunch offering changes and you need to head to their Instagram page for daily menu updates and just go in with the heart of enjoying a sumptuous, hearty meal. Today's offering included Bhendi Dry, Doodhi Gravy (bottle gourd), Aloo Gassi Special, Lalbopla Sambar, Baigan Chutney, Pineapple Sheera along with servings of Rice, Chapati, Dal, Rasam, Curd and Amla Pickle. ✔️ Fresh Ingredients ✔️ Value for Money ✔️ Pure Vegetarian ✔️ Service is Prompt ✔️ Wholesome Meal ✔️Overall Rating 4.5 / 5 Can't say our Christmas was better than yours but it was surely more content with the perfect post lunch nap 😴 , testament to a great meal.

A simple no-frills home style meal place if you like South Indian meals. I liked the fact that it was low on oil and spice. One of the very few places in Mumbai that serve nutritious food (no junk) at extremely reasonable prices. Suitable for kids and senior citizens also.
