I visited this place for dinner. When I looked at it, my first reaction was, "I don think I want to eat here" ,but my husband was super hungry so we entered the restaurant with apprehension. And Am I Glad I Did. Small place with only 4 tables. It could be more clean, however there was no foul smell or anything dirty around. We ordered their famous stuffed bombil fry and jawla pakoda. Bombil were very tasty soft n juicy inside with an amazing prawn stuffing. Taste is 10/10 but cost wise it was expensive coz serving had only 2 peices. Jawla pakoda were a disappointment. Very dry n chewy and more of besan n onion n very less jawla. Next was kombdi wade which was an ok dish. Nothing bad but nothing great too. However the Surmai thali was amazing. Nice piece of fried fish and tasty curry along with solkadhi n bhakri/chapati. All in all good experience and good food. Would definitely visit again or atleast order in.

the taste is absolutely awesome, don't go on their interiors, they are pretty basic, We enjoyed the food there, had mutton thali and the taste was the best. I'll recommend this place for the authentic konkan food

Ordered their famous fish thali. It came in a beautiful packaging and is a complete authentic Maharastrian meal. Each dish had a distinctive taste and the portion size was more than enough for one person. It is quite difficult to find such high quality food of this cuisine which doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. The meal was recently priced and it was a very lovely lunch! Taste: 4/5. Packaging: 5/5. Value for money: 4.5/5.

Just back from a Dine at Kokanastha!! Absolutely Terrible Experience 1. Menu was Limited and the Menu attached above is not correct, these seem to be pretty old rates. 2. Ordered Surmai Thali & Prawns Masala First came the Prawns Masala, then a 5 min wait, then a single Bhakri, then my bhakri finished and I'm waiting, then still waiting for Thali. Then came the thali, Surmai Fry was old, hard and salty. (Vais Masa). This killed it. It's cost me 450/- for a Thali, but the quantity of rice was insufficient. Malwani curry was a little watery. Not worth in terms of value for money. I've had similar thali at Satkar, Goregaon. Chaitanya Dadar. This one was absolutely below average.

I requested for spoon the senior gent at the counter picked up one from their cutlery place. The spoon fell down on the floor he picks up the same spoon and offers it to me. When I looked at him questioningly he goes tones basin rinses the spoon with water and keeps on my table. If this is their hygiene standards in front of customers I wonder what's it like in their kitchen. This was my 2nd time dinning there. I have one positive comment for last time food experience. But after today's scene never again testing at Konkanastha lunch home. Anyone wants proof of this can check their CCTv footage. I stands by my words Response from the ownera week ago Dear Mr. Andy, I sincerely apologise for the incident happened. We at Kokanastha always maintain best hygiene & are always try to serve best to our customers. The senior person u are talking about is my father, who was present there because of some kind of emergency as one of my staff was absent. The mistake happened was genuine & doesn't mean that it's our regular practice to serve. As I said earlier, we always try to serve in the best hygienic conditions. I again apologise for what happened & assure you that ur future experience with us would be much better. Kokanastha Dear Owner, Thank you for your response. However your apology doesn’t sound or come across as an apology. It sounds more like pathetic excuse. As matter of fact if it was one of your staff had to make this mistake I would say mistake do happen and maybe he is not attentive etc. What’s the excuse for family member to give this sad service (In this case pick up spoon from floor and offer it guest. Chal I give you benefit of doubt. But again with my questioning look he just went to wash basin and washed the spoon with water and no soap). Did not even take pain of getting me another spoon was it too much trouble to lift another spoon from the cutlery set kept just next to wash basin? Another matter is the place you store your cutlery and water glasses. Its right next/below the wash basin. Are you for sure there are no droplets of water flying around while customer is using he wash basin? I am from same industry (Although not in food or restaurant business). What happened that was totally unacceptable and so is your excuse for it to happen. And I am sorry I doubt I want to try it again or would recommend to order from your place. But for sure will ask other to check on the hygiene factor by visiting once or twice and checking the service and other stuff.
