Mumbai’s favourite heritage seafood spot is hosting a Seafood Festival. Mahesh Lunch Home has been serving traditional Mangalorean coastal cuisine since 1977 across its many outlets. Their Seafood Festival 2026 highlights regional flavours and innovative cooking methods across several Indian coastal areas like Tawa Fry and Bharla Bombil from Maharashtra and Eral Varuval Prawns and Bangalore Prawns Biryani from the South. We also had the China Town Crab ans Gomantak Masala. Expect all kinds of savoury and spicy flavours but don’t miss out on the sweet Bhappa Doi. They’re bringing together the best of Indian seafood at this festival on till 28th February so don’t miss it!

This is my favorite restaurant for long. But I used to go to their Fort outlet in South Mumbai. First time I visited their Thane outlet today and was impressed by the ambience, food and personalized service.

Insensitive towards pregnant woman - your receptionist Nikita was is 9 months pregnant when we visited this restaurant. We were told by valet person to sit on the ground floor. Nikita outrightly denied it stating that it’s not their policy even though ground floor sitting space was very well maitained. We told her that a pregnant woman who is in her 9th month cannot climb up the stairs, instead finding an alternative she started cross questioning us that we should have called them prior and asked. Later, she took some permissions and asked us to sit down. Later, guests started filling up their ground floor spaces which totally baffled us. This rude behaviour showcases total lack of empathy towards pregnant women. Mahesh Lunch Home should first teach some manners and empathy to its staff. Utterly disappointing experience

3rd / 4th class service, Very poor service. The waiting time was excessive. Even after 1 hour and 30 minutes, only one dish arrived. We had placed the entire order together so everything would come at once, but the remaining dish took another 30 minutes. I lost my patience. In a rush, they served all the dishes hastily. The food was extremely spicy and unsettling. The chicken wasn’t properly cooked—it had a strange smell. The fish was clearly frozen. It was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant carries a big name, but this kind of service is not worthy of Mahesh Lunch Home. There were at least two other tables like ours—frustrated and complaining. People were even shouting at the staff. We decided we will never visit this place again. We left after trying for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

On 16.01.26, We ordered a Surmai Tawa fry which was bland and lacked marination. The portion size was not good. Then we had some Chicken Tikka which was again extremely chewy. For the main course we had ordered some Prawns ghee roast with Neer Dosas which was extremely disappointing. The ghee roast was awful. It seemed like a mixture of red chilli paste and ghee with separately cooked prawns. We highlighted this to the manager who gave us a cold chicken gravy so that we could finish the steamed rice we had ordered. They charged us for the entire meal. The Gulab Jamun and Caramel Custard were okay. Never returning to this place. I feel sick after having the chilli paste and ghee

Went to Mahesh Lunch Home for dinner and honestly, very disappointing experience. We selected 2 crabs ourselves thinking they will prepare it nicely and we can enjoy the actual taste. But when the dish came, it was extremely salty and full of masala. Completely killed the natural flavour of the crab. Didn’t feel like we were eating fresh seafood at all. Big issue was the way it was handled. Chef has really not done justice to the dish. When we raised the concern, manager was not bothered only. No proper response, no attempt to improve or replace, and no refund given also. Overall not a good experience at all. Expected much better from such a place.
