Malvan Fat Fish’s Surmai Thali is a seafood delight. The Surmai (Kingfish) is perfectly cooked, tender, and rich in flavour, with authentic Malvani spices. Accompanied by traditional sides like bhakri, solkadhi, and fish curry, the thali offers a complete, satisfying coastal meal that’s bursting with fresh, bold flavours.

Its the best surmai fry i have ever eaten in Mumbai. The food is so authentic. Please please try their Thali... its outstanding! The fish is so fresh. They are worth it. Also they have an amazing fish thali platter. You have to call and inform them an hour in advance if you want it. A must try. You will love it!

It was my Dad's Birthday this week and we decided to go out for dinner. This small Eatery was our option for seafood since it was nearby. We ordered two starters- 1- Bombil Fry 2-Prawns Fry They were good to taste. But we felt they were bit salty. We ordered three types of Thalis for main course 1-Chicken Thali 2-Surmai Thali 3-Veg Thali Loved Loved these Thalis. And are a must must try. We Loved the Solkadhi too. And It's worth a try.

Fat Fish is something synonym to Goa...So when i heard that something of the same name was coming up in the vicinity my hopes got high. Later I realised it was not the same Fat fish but just the same name. Still my hopes were high about this place only to realise it was a bubble. The place is pretty cramped up but that is not the issue, the issue lies in the taste which is the foremost important factor of any restaurant. So we ordered a prawns masala thali with wadas and a Surmai fry thali with Ambolis. As the prices for both the thalis were not mentioned, we just enquired about the same and to our surprise they were way high as compared to the place, 360 for surmai thali (the smallest size) and 380 for the prawns thali. Nevertheless, we thought food and the taste and quantity will justify them, may be. So we waited desperately for our order. The food looked yum as it was served, first to arrive on table was the Surmai thali. The thali was well served, good quantity, and looked very tempting. But but but... the first bite and it was just so opposite. The fried fish was not quite fresh, also the taste was just okay. So was the gravy that came along, just okay. We still believed the prawns thali will live up to the expectations, it did look like that when it arrived. But again, that did not meet the expectations as well. The prawns masala lacked tge perfect malwani flavours and taste. It was just some normal curry. Presentation and quantity was pretty good but the taste was not even close to good but just okay. And I have had better experiences in respect to taste with places with much lesser rates than this. As i said it was a bubble which broke very bad. The solkadhi was good though also the ambolis were great, soft and perfect. But everything else was not what we went there for. They really need to work on taste, or else they already have too many drawbacks of a small place, plus its in the interior parts of a lane. Im sure if the taste improves all these other things wont matter. I doubt i will be going back, but yes as I always decide after one more visit, may be after a break of few months. Until then Happy Hogging....

Visited the place with my family. Well, I'll just get right down to it. 1. They need a bigger place ASAP. They have just 4 tables stuffed into a I think 18x11 space with the kitchen right next to the tables. We were 4 adults and 1 kid. They gave us 1 table which could barely accommodate 4 adults. One of us had to sit at another table with a couple at that table already. 2. Food was okay. Needs improvement. Mutton was good. Fish had little to no flavor. Only flavor was in the coating which even my 5 year old pointed out. 3. I felt it was overpriced. Have had better food at a much lower cost. 4. One of us is a pure vegetarian. We looked at the menu before waiting for a table for 30 minutes and the menu had a few vegetarian items in it. Upon ordering we were informed that they do not serve vegetarian on specific days, Sunday being one of them. Well, mention that on the menu. We ended up ordering veg biryani for the veg person, and the preparation was a disaster.
