I’ve heard mixed reviews about this place. But, for me, this restaurant is an absolute hit! You simply cannot go to Mezcalita and be disappointed. And, I’m not talking in terms of just food. The atmosphere, the decor, the service, the food, everything will delight you. We went to the Churchgate one, and this was my second time there. We ordered these: 1. Chip and dip Mexicana 2. Deadly spicy Habanero Pops (Chicken) 3. Lamb Birra Taco 4. Pulled Pork Torta 5. Mango Manilla cocktail The Nachos came with 4 dips. We wanted a spicy guac with the nachos that was a separate order on the menu. The server instead told us he’ll be happy to replace the usual one with the spicy guac. Their sour cream is PERFECT! Though, the rajma dip was meh! Next comes the deadly spicy pops. Consider this as a warning and order these only if you can handle EXTREME spice. Coz these will kill you. But, if you like crazy amount of spice that can make you forget your existence, this is a gem! The server saw us eating these and came to ask us if we’re okay. He saw my face and without saying anything, he got us a frothy drink that was made of coconut milk and cinnamon. Now that is the kind of service that impresses me max. And, the drink is delicious! Lamb taco- top dish of my evening! Absolutely delicious! I’d keep going just for this. Pulled pork Torta was also a banger! Another highlight of the night! The cocktail was pretty good too. Now, a special mention to their ambience. The atmosphere is lively, playful, and artistic. You’ll see the servers enjoying, the crowd swaying to the music, the staff is well-informed and kind. And they give you FREE TEQUILA SHOTS! They do this fun activity periodically, where two staff members would wear mask, play an instrument, and go around all the tables, pouring tequila shots directly into your mouth! It’s a darn good tradition to impress your customers. If you’re ever feeling down, this is the restaurant you pick to lighten up your mood. My review for this restaurant is positive, mainly because they don’t market themselves as something they’re not. The dishes look their usual self and taste good. The restaurant is pricey, yes! But, it also gives you great food and much better service than most. I’d definitely keep going here.

The vibe of the restaurant takes you back to Cancun! Service led by Ankit was amazing, and the chefs have done an amazing job at the curation of the menu. Must visit!

We arrived at Mezcalita without a reservation, and were told that all the tables were pre-booked. Completely understandable, we had no issue with that. What was extremely disappointing, however, was the way the situation was handled. Nearly 90% of the restaurant was empty, yet we were asked to wait at the bar counter and were expected to have our entire meal there. If a table was reserved, we completely understand that it should be given to the guests who booked it but shouldn’t an empty table be offered temporarily until the reservation arrives? We would have been more than happy to move the moment the guests arrived. Instead, we had to finish our entire meal at an uncomfortable bar counter while watching multiple tables remain empty. Ironically, just as we were about to finish our food and leave, a member of the staff came over and offered us a table but only for an hour. At that point, it honestly felt more like a consolation prize than genuine hospitality. The food was actually tasty, which makes the experience even more disappointing. Good food can only go so far when the overall dining experience and guest management are this poor. Restaurants are about more than just the food hospitality matters. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made it impossible for us to properly enjoy our meal. Very disappointing management and an absolutely horrific dining experience.
