Authentic Marathi cuisine is served here since almost a couple of decades. I have been a religious customer since I was a kid. Unlike many other places they know how to manage spice to make things tasty. A legend in Marathi food stands tall in wake of multiple other new outlets in Thane.

One thing for sure, Authentic and Superb Food are synonymous to Swad Thali. Cost is average but Food is Top notch and thus attracts a lot crowd. Situated in a quite neighborhood, it is not easy to spot it. Service and Serving both are exceptionally good.

Excellent food quality, matching home made, good staff, nice ambience, AC hotel, taste is best, quantity is always more than sufficient. We never had any acidity or stomach related problems like other Punjabi or south Indian hotels.

A nice place to enjoy unlimited Vegetarian Maharashtrian thali. The price is reasonable to the mammoth options they give in thali. 2 gravy sabji 1 dry sabji Roti and Puri Masala rice Aam ras Alvadi Kothabir vadi Solkadi The food is healthy and edible. U will want to eat more. You ask for anything extra from the plate and they will quickly serve you. Worth and visit once and again...

#GoldenOldies: The Swad catering services was established 22 years ago with the aim of providing good quality and reasonably priced Maharashtrian cuisine in the form of Thali (assorted complete meal) or A la carte menu. This quaint little hotel has been going strong since then catering to regulars and patrons who are interested in trying out this all veg cuisine which is essentially in Maharashtrian Brahmin style of cooking. The thali section has 6 options from the unlimited portions to the basic curd n rice plate. Swad Deluxe unlimited thali: as the name suggests except for the sweets everything else on the plate is refilled/added extra as much as one wants. The plating consists of 3 veggies, 2 fried snacks, roti, dal (lentils), rice, 1 sweet, curd, pickles, raita, papad, etc. The veggies are changed daily in rotation which adds variety and breaks the monotony. Fried items include assorted bhajias, alu vadi or rolled pathra, etc. During summer season a bowl of pure mango purée is included. Sweets have an option of shrikhand or gulab jamuns. The whole thali at 260/- is a really good deal especially if you have a huge appetite. The limited thali has comparatively lesser options of 2 veggies, 3 rotis, dal, rice, pickles, curd, salad and papad. The rest of the stuff including sweet can be ordered at an extra cost. The rest of the menu includes typical Maharashtrian snacks like poha, sheera, Kothimbir wadi, Misal, etc. They have recently included basic Indo-Chinese items as well but it's better to stick to what they are good at. The hotel is small, non-ac but bright, airy and clean and closed on Mondays. Service is quick. The food is wholesome, healthy, somewhat sweetish (needs bit of spice) and totally tummy filling.

I have been going to this place since I was a child. A humble place which serves Maharashtrian thali. Recently I visited the place again. I wouldn't call the food most tasty but it does have the authentic and home cooked touch to it. Variety is decent with 3 sabji, chapati, salad, Pulav, 2 starters, papad and a sweet. The only thing I found missing was a chutney which would complement the starter. The service is also nice. However you need to ask them to serve you what you need instead of the other way round we usually see in a unlimited thali serving restaurant. The unlimited thali is priced at 300. And I don't think that this price is too justified considering the average taste of the food. Although you can opt for the limited option which will cost you 170. Also there are other Ala Carta options. Overall it's a decent place to enjoy home cooked food, however the taste can be improved. Taste: 3/5 Ambience: 3/5 Service: 4/5 VFM: 3/5

Modak costs - Rs30 per piece, all modaks is of different shapes and size. Understand that It’s a peak day but doesn’t mean that you will serve anything for the sake of it. I hope it doesn’t disappoints in taste.
