Condé Nast Traveller's choice: Since 2004, Morimoto’s Wasabi has been Mumbai’s benchmark for Japanese fine dining at the Taj.
Minimalist wood and glass, framed by Arabian Sea views, with the focus always on the food, especially the white fish carpaccio, black cod miso, and wasabi.
One of chef Morimoto’s first global outposts, Wasabi shaped India’s taste for Japanese fine dining.

Luxury Dining (Observed Safely From My Wallet) I have never visited this restaurant, but after seeing the menu prices I feel like I’ve already made a significant financial contribution just by looking at it. The dishes sound amazing though — words “describing the dishes” are used so confidently that I assume the chef also has a PhD in food philosophy. From the pictures, the ambience looks incredible. Dim lights, elegant plates, and portions so artistic that I’m not sure whether you’re supposed to eat them or hang them in a museum. I’m fairly certain each dish arrives with a story about where the salt was emotionally harvested from the Himalayas. If I ever go there, I’ll probably order water and slowly sip it while admiring everyone else’s mortgage-sized meals. Overall review: 5 stars for courage, 5 stars for presentation, and −2 stars for reminding me I have rent to pay. 😄

Had an amazing omakase experience at Wasabi with my husband.. Every dish was beautifully crafted and full of flavor.. truly felt like art on a plate. The ambiance is elegant, and the service & hospitality were absolutely top-notch. It’s definitely not your everyday dining — very pricey, but absolutely worth the experience. Honestly surprised by the negative reviews because our experience was nothing less than exceptional. Definitely worth it!

It's the best Japanese place in India. Exceptional quality of ingredients and very warm staff.

Had the worst experience last night at Wasabi. Been dining here since more than 10 years but this was the first terrible experience. We went for a bday celebration but it felt like we walked into a fish market. There was a table of 20 drunk women who were loud enough to dim the sound of a bomb attack. There was another table next to us of a family of 3, who were as agonised as us. And an old couple on the other side of us who were as troubled. All of us kept requesting the manager to either move them to the PDR or us to the PDR, but it didn’t happen. Told the manager repeatedly to ask them to keep their voices down but obviously it didn’t work!! Next time you’re booking a dinner at wasabi which is by far the most expensive restaurant in the city, make sure to check if they have a group booking of bimbos or not. Not worth the apology from the manager at the end of the dinner. Least expected would be to make our bill 50% off for the traumatic dinner which didn’t feel like a celebration at all!!!

Went to Wasabi for my friend’s bday dinner. But saw that the chef who was cooking was not adhering to basic hygiene measures like using gloves. He wasn’t wearing the right kind of cap too. Considering that it is in Taj and is catering to people from all around the globe. And for the price they charge. This is a minimum expectation from any guest. The food was good. Cannot complain about it.

We ordered for 3 dishes 1) truffle garlic roll 2) some asparagus appetizer 3) avocado wasabi taco The first two dishes shouldn't be in the menu itself.. it was basically a grilled asparagus with cheese and pathetic taste.. it was the worst Japanese cuisine I ever had..

Oh what a terrible Japanese food i had here at Wasabi. Ordered Vegetable roll sushi and it felt like it came directly from deep freezer. Taste was pathetic. Group sitting beside was super loud which made the experience even worse. Honestly, felt like robbed 😀

I would rate a zero if I could. The food was tasteless and disgusting. I still don’t comprehend how someone can mess up basic Japanese food.

I ordered prawn tempura sushi and it felt like that chef called for a take away box and served it on the plate. Quite unbelievable
