Woodland Retreat, Thane – 28 Years of Pure Veg Legacy Served on a Plate ⭐ If you’ve lived in Thane long enough, you already know that Woodland Retreat isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an emotion. A 28-year-old pure-veg landmark that has perfected the art of serving comfort food with flavours that feel like home yet excite your palate every single time. On my recent visit, I indulged in some of their signature South Indian and fusion favourites, and here’s what stood out: ⸻ 🌟 Rasam Vada A perfect start to the meal—crispy vada soaked in a tangy, aromatic rasam that hits all the right notes. Light, soulful, and absolutely refreshing. 🌟 Ghee Podi Idli Soft mini idlis generously tossed in ghee and spicy podi. The fragrance alone can make you hungry, and the flavour? Top-notch. 🌟 Rawa Masala Dosa Crisp, golden, and filled with a mildly spiced potato masala. Each bite carries that classic crunch South Indian food lovers swear by. 🌟 Bisi Bele Bhath A hearty comfort dish at its best—rich, hot, and packed with traditional Karnataka-style flavours. Warm, wholesome, and perfect for those who love homely meals. 🌟 Pineapple Sheera Sweet, aromatic, and meltingly soft. The pineapple adds a refreshing twist that uplifts the entire dessert. 🌟 Filter Coffee Strong, frothy, and absolutely authentic. Woodland Retreat continues to serve one of the best filter coffees in Thane. 🌟 Thali – South Indian A complete feast on a plate! Balanced, generous, and filled with classic flavours that remind you why this restaurant has stood strong for decades. 🌟 Idli Chilli A fun Indo-South fusion—soft idli cubes tossed in a spicy, tangy chilli masala. Bursting with flavour and amazing as a snack. 🌟 Paneer Satte A tasty North-Indian touch—juicy paneer tossed with spices, delivering a smoky, savoury punch. ⸻ 💚 Final Verdict Woodland Retreat remains one of Thane’s most trusted and loved pure-veg family restaurants for a reason. From traditional South Indian delights to flavourful fusion specials, every dish speaks of consistency, authenticity, and the kind of warmth only a legacy restaurant can offer. If you’re craving pure-veg comfort food with a nostalgic touch, Woodland Retreat is—without doubt—still the place to be.

On a recent official visit to Thane, I happened to eat rasam vada which was amazing in taste and enjoyed sipping the last spoon of rasam ! Filter coffee was the second item I liked and I being a south Indian, know the quality of coffee served in different South Indian Restaurants in Mumbai. Woodland Retreat didn't disappoint me and deserve thumps up for yummy rasam vada and delicious kaapi !!! Woodland is the hidden gem in Thane for south Indian dishes

Woodland is a very good family place. Good for lunch or dinner. Like their meals or thali and mini vada and sambar. Service is quick and value for money for a vegetarian place. Very well located and has good waiting area. Recommend for family dinner.

Had Great expectations from this place but the quality has gone down. Dosas were burnt and cold. Spring dosa was just plain vegetables inside a Doda. Tomato omlet was average.

Possibly the Worst place in Thane. The water here was filthy and unclean. We even called the manager thrice but no one came to attend us. Won't come here ever again.
