On the way to Ooty, we stopped by Hotel Original Vinayaka Mylari at Mysore for breakfast. The menu is limited - when we visited it was either Plain Benne Dosa or Masala Benne Dosa, both served with butter on top and a generous dallop of coconut chutney on the side. Occasionally they also serve a dessert option (kashi halwa) which is also supposed to be good. The Dosa is crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The masala dosa had filling of onions and cabbage I think. Dosas are pretty filling. Both are priced the same, we paid 440 rupees for 8 dosas. The original place is small, cramped and often has people waiting in line to get in. Once you get in and are seated, the dosas are served right after. You pay at the counter after you finish. One may be asked to share tables here. They have also opened a bigger place about 30-50m away. The kitchen for both is same, so you can visit either. We went to the OG place.

Looking for best dosa eatery in mysore you must visit hotel Vinayaka mylari which was established 80 yrs ago. This place serves Only three dishes i.e masala dosa, idli and halwa with lots of butter. I tried their iconic masala dosa and idli. All these items are cooked in woodfire. Idli was soft, springy, fluffy and aromatic. It just melted in the mouth. Dosa was fragile and so soft it just dissolved in the mouth. Service was super fast. I love the taste of dosa and idli. Will definitely visit this place again.

Visited this old vinayak Mylari outlet on Saturday morning for breakfast. We tried their masala dosa and filter coffee - Amazing taste! I will suggest to visit early in the morning to avoid the weekend rush. Else there will be huge waiting.

This was a bucketlist item checked off during an excellent road trip. The restaurant itself has haphazardly expanded with the demand rising and to seat customers. As such, the place is a labyrinth of many small rooms seating groups at the same table often. The menu is limited to their star dish of mylari dosa which takes a bit of time to be served due to intense crowds. The dosa itself is incredible and melts in your mouth. I enjoyed the very homely feel that both the food and ambience gave me. Looking forward to another chance if I ever pass by.

I saw a rating of 4.9 star on Zomato and reached this place and received the most staggering shock of my life. First of all this place is soo small, barely 5 tables which you need to share with others. I waited for 55 mins in queue, obviously due to less seating capacity. They had hardly 6 items in menu and only 1 item in availability, which was masala dosa. Highly disappointed with taste, hype, hygiene and over all. Their handwash is in their kitchen. They prepare bulk dosas and get it on a single plate and serve one by one until you say no. This restaurant is 85 years old and their batter is very normal with a very small portion size and their masala doesn't have aalu or onion. It was either bottle gourd or something similar. I am amazed how people praise highly of this restaurant. Strongest recommendation is a big NO.

there was no AC. for a famous outlet, the staff didn't know any other language. only Kannada. it was super annoying trying to understand what they were saying. there was no menu card. we found it super difficult to understand that all they had was dosa, nothing else. just one thing on their menu with one chutney. no sambar, no multiple chutneys. I have zero clue why this place has such high rating

had tasted dosa from the original mylari, the taste was awesome, the new place has not even touched that by a bit, it's a commercial eatery, running like a rat race those who ate original mylari can only understand this place sucks, it's only the bloggers, Instagrammers are adding to the hype. pls do not visit this and waste your money
