The food, ambience and service are exceptional! I’ve visited Genre for both breakfast and lunch and found the food and coffee to be the highlight. Honestly did not like the signature cocktails much. The menu needs some work and the flavours need to be better balanced. The last time we went we were also offered a coffee panna cotta on the house, which was a lovely gesture! Thank you :)

The food was AMAZING. Music can be toned down a little so ppl are able to have a conversation with each other and the servers. The wooden stairs are slippery as hell a lady had a horrific fall, offed everyone’s mood and literally everyone left after that

It’s a cute and cozy café with a nice ambiance, but unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing. The bench seating is quite uncomfortable due to its shallow depth, making it difficult to sit comfortably for long. We started with the tiramisu, which was a letdown. Both the texture and the taste felt off and didn’t quite come together. We then ordered the mushroom on toast, which was decent and definitely better than the dessert. The biggest downside, however, was the service. It was noticeably slow, which took away from the overall experience.

My Genre experience ended before it could even begin. We had reserved a dinner slot at Genre for my wife’s birthday and arrived a few minutes before our scheduled time. To our surprise, there was no one at the entrance to attend to guests. I eventually walked in and approached one of the servers, who gestured for me to wait. We waited for around 10 minutes, assuming she would return — but she never did. My wife then went in to follow up, and another staff member said, “Let me look up your reservation on the system.” Once again, we waited… and he never came back either. What should have been a special birthday dinner instead turned into an incredibly disappointing and, frankly, humiliating experience. The complete lack of coordination and basic guest service was quite shocking. Genre clearly has room to do better when it comes to handling guests and reservations. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won’t be returning anytime soon.

We had a very disappointing experience at Genre, Defence Colony. While we were still in the middle of our meal, food had arrived only 10 mins earlier, A bartender named ‘Bibash’ came to our table, placed a reservation tag on it, and told us that the table was reserved for another guest, indicating that we needed to leave within five minutes. This was especially upsetting because the server who seated us had not mentioned any time limit or reservation, and our food had arrived barely ten minutes before this happened. We felt extremely offended by the way the situation was handled. Although our server apologised for his colleague’s behaviour, the experience had already been ruined. What made it worse was that several other tables in the restaurant were empty at the time. Because of this rude and unprofessional behaviour, we decided to leave early without even finishing our food. A thoroughly unpleasant experience, and we will not be returning.
