I don’t even know where to begin with my tragic experience at Moti Mahal Daryaganj, a place that's been trading on past glory and nothing else. The so-called “pioneers” of butter chicken clearly lost the plot, because what I was served was nothing short of an insult. Let’s start with the Seekh Kebabs. Imagine expecting tender, flavorful, freshly made kebabs and instead being served something that tasted like it had just been defrosted from the back of a freezer—rubbery, bland, and utterly devoid of any culinary effort. The texture was so off, I couldn’t tell if I was chewing on meat or a piece of cardboard. If I wanted frozen kebabs, I could’ve picked up a pack from the local grocery store, cooked them at home, and saved myself the nightmare of sitting through this farce of a meal. And then came the main disappointment: their Butter Chicken—the dish they're supposedly famous for. “Famous” for what, exactly? Bland, uninspired, watery sauce with overcooked, dry chunks of chicken floating in it? The “butter” in the butter chicken seemed to have vanished, leaving behind an oily mess with no depth or richness. I’ve had more flavor from a can of soup. It was nothing like the buttery, rich, and smoky butter chicken you'd expect from a place with such a reputation. Honestly, I've had better versions of this dish at random hole-in-the-wall joints that don't claim to be the birthplace of it. Overall, the meal was a complete and utter failure. It felt like the kitchen just didn’t care about what they were putting out. How hard is it to make fresh kebabs or cook a decent butter chicken? This place is riding entirely on a name and history that clearly no longer has any connection to the food they serve today. If you want to waste your money and ruin your evening, Moti Mahal Daryaganj is the perfect place.

With a good heart and some expectations, I went here for lunch today. I'm based otta Nagpur, Maharashtra. Bloody hell, they served me frozen boiled chicken in butter chicken. Wished to speak with the guy at the counter, but JAANE DO BOLA!! COMMERCIALIZATION KI DUNIYA HAI! KYU APNA MUHH KHARAB KARNA!! Later went to Aslam chicken and fed my soul It was a severe disappointment as a first timer.

This must be the most hyped for nothing place ever! the so called OG butter chicken is the sweetest saddest gravy you'll ever eat. you don't need. a desert afterwards!
