I love high tea - there is something blissful in indulging in an afternoon of good conversation while sipping tea and nibbling on delicate pastries and cold sandwiches. So I always keep a look out for places for high tea and in that zone again I wandered into The Imperial to sample their highly recommended high tea menu. To start this out you have to first talk about the hotel itself - the Imperial takes you back in time - it's a hotel that stood still in time when it comes to architecture and ambience. Beautifully situated in the heart of the city , it's one of the remaining Grand Ole Hotels of India. The Atrium itself situated a few steps away from the lobby is breathtaking - a long rectangular area situated in the heart of the hotel with touching the sky naturally lit space. Beautifully cushioned yellow white deep cane chairs spread out with a fountain forming the center placement of the area will make you forget your worries and feel the inherent calm of the place wash over you. The Atrium boasts a delectable set high tea menu with a pot of tea from a generous selection of black, white and green teas to choose from and a nice array of sandwiches, cakes and pastries to accompany it. You will get miniature cold sandwiches and also some Indian inspired mini samosas. Along with that they serve about three - four pastries with a slice is fruit cake that change each day in selection . The highlight for me was however the crowning glory - the buttery scone served with a fresh strawberry preserve and creme fraiche. The scone crumbles into your mouth with all its sweet goodness and it's the best I have had - ever! I would recommend trying to get your hands on a few more. I chose the rose tea which was served perfectly brewed in beautiful white bone china tea cups and a small pot . Ideal conversation in a quite corner and staff that is in no hurry to see you go makes this a perfect spot to spend an afternoon - it's even perfect for some alone time and a book as the Atrium is pleasantly quiet without the usual Delhi noise. I love it in every way possible. Note of caution though - if you are not a guest of the hotel - you need to pay a cover charge of INR 900 per person adjusted against your order - which is easily spent . Understandably the reason is to keep the idle passerby out.

A beautiful place to have high tea in a relaxed atmosphere. Today I went there along with my sister and was warmly welcomed by Mr Rahul and Mr Manish after that Mr Manish took great care of us. He always attended our every need with utmost responsibility. Hats off to him.

Spent an enchanting evening at this indoor area within the Imperial, the crockery used is so delicate and fine and the food light but delicious. A lovely place to de stress after a busy day.

Well attentive staff, an intimate setting and an overall delightful meal from start to finish... it's no wonder why it is considered to be an icon in the Central Delhi fine dining scene!

Pure blissful entrance, sky high palm trees and warm staff welcome you to this vintage property. From beautiful lights to old-school lobbies, everything captures your attention, a beautiful site indeed and to have cherry on top they have decked up the hotel with rare-found paintings. Stuck by the magnificence, I tool up a seat in coffee lobby and summoned myself to a soulful coffee that was made with love. Calm and serene, drop by if you are around this place or on a cozy delhi winters evening. Thanks :)

This place makes you feel like you’ve entered a royal palace! When I say royal I don’t mean high end interiors but royalty. Vintage and pleasing. This space serves only beverages and if you want they can serve some dessert as well (which needs to be ordered separately at the counter) Service was good plus their tone was good too We ordered a Rum Mocktail and a Mimosa Both the drinks were done just right. Not too strong yet could enjoy every sip of it. Later, we ordered a Veg patty and chocolate chip muffin. Veg patty - majorly cottage cheese and warm and fresh. It tasted really well with all the buttery layers Chocolate chip muffin - It was huge and rich. Full of chocolate chips not just around but inside it too. I was unable to finish it Overall the experience was super legit! Every room and corridor was done so well. Just Royal! :)

Its a nice small / cool / calm place write in the middle of the hotel. I would say its sandwitched btw their 'Patiala Peg' and 'The Spice Route' restaurants. They have a limited but handpicked collection of teas / coffee and some light snacks. One could also order from the next door bakery and get the same delivered to your table here. I found the ambiance quite nice and the staff is very hospitable and will ensure that everything is comfortable for you there.

The only word that can describe this place is royal . Beautiful ambience, soothing vibe , polite staff is all what I found there . It was a random coffee plan . We had cafe latte and cappuccino. The taste was regular . We also ordered bruschetta which was also decent enough. Overall this place is good if you want to feel relax and want an extremely quiet place to have the sip of coffee .

We had high tea on Wednesday at the Imperial. The hotel is very beautiful with lovely decor throughout and the atrium where high tea was served is also bright and sunny. The moment we stepped inside we were overawed by the politeness, warmth and hospitality of every person we encountered. We had planned this after reading lots of positive reviews but we were totally disappointed. We had ordered 1 veg and 1 non veg. When the three tier stand arrived it looked quite pathetic. We tried the sandwiches which tasted stale and had no flavour. There were only 2 tiny ones with 2 tiny bruschettas. The toppings were dry and tasteless and the bread was stale and hard. In the non veg tier the ham and bacon in the sandwiches were pathetic. The desserts were purely sweet with no variation. The 1 single scone served was average. My main disappointment was that there were too many sweet treats and too little savoury snacks. Variety was needed here. I felt that we should have been given a choice instead of being stuck with a fixed menu. The sandwich fillings in the veg tier could have been of cheese, tomato etc also instead of just cucumber. The only compensation was the iced coffee which was good. We are definitely not coming here again.
