We went there to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary but didn't disclose it right away to check how they attend us if we just walk in. and without surprise they attended us like they are known to. It's the TATA way. Mr. Thomas and his team member Yogesh were so courteous that we were feeling so special. They explained to us all the items we ordered to ensure we are aware what is on the plate and we do not feel uncomfortable when the food reaches our table. we ordered Achari Haldi Fish Tikka, Murg Galawat in Starter, Safeda Lamb Biriyani, Bamboo Chicken with Jasmine steam sticky rice, Plain Naan in mani course and Crispy Kalakand in desert. Each and every item was delicious and mouth watering. between every course they served taste cleanser (on the house) and they were special too. at the end it was Rose Tea to digest (on the house). Fish was River fish and not Bhetki which was repeatedly informed to avoid confusion. the Bamboo chicken was soo tasty that I can't explain. a Nagaland dish with Sticky jasmin rice could be so special I couldn't imagine till I tasted. the Hyderabadi Safeda Lamb Biriyani was the vest Biriyani I tasted till now at Delhi. And I can assure I am a real Biriyani lover from Kolkata. so I know how a biriyani should taste. the desert was soo special. the blueberry crispy kalakand was awesome. as told the Blueberry was from London. even the Rose tea was from himalaya i suppose. Thanks to IHCL and Varq for making our day special without any intimation. Thanks to Thomas and Yogesh too.

Naan didn't feel heavy at all.. starters to main course full marks.. service and welcoming attitude superb. and sitar and tabla artists they made the evening even more beautiful. good experience over all.

I went there today to celebrate with my family. We ended up ordering Chicken galoti, achari fish, corn ke kebab and panner tikka for starters and butter chicken, malai kofta and butter panner for dinner. The food was amazing and the staff was polite and helpful. The only thing to keep in mind is the food portion size which is small including the side breads so remember to order extra.

I went to Varq today with a family of 10 to celebrate a birthday. Positives - main dishes like Chenna Paneer and Olive ke Kofte are good. However the restaurent suffers from a acute case of low quantities. The food was coming in such low quantity that staff also apologized for the same. Cord ke kebab and Palak patta chat can be avoided, just waste of money. All in all, while you might have okayish good, there are many standalone restaurents with much better taste and service.

Given the very small quantity of food served, I think Varq is a great place for following people to eat: 1. Nibblers – people who eat only small amounts at a time. 2. Grazers – those who eat small portions or snacks throughout the day rather than full meals. 3. Tasters – someone who eats only to sample or savor flavors, not to fill up. 4. Food connoisseurs – if the focus is on tasting for enjoyment or refinement, not quantity. For others, this place sucks.

We made a prior reservation for the 5 course meal which is Rs 5,500+taxes. A simple juice+soda mocktail was priced at Rs 650. Given the prices, we expected splendid food and a great experience, like at Indian Accent. However, the food was just okay, rather dry and nothing special. Many items were served lukewarm. The service was really bad. It took them 40 minutes to get started and there were very long gaps between each course. For the main course, some of us sat without breads, some without rice, some even without the mains. One person joined a little late and the order of their courses was all over the place. It was quite hilarious after one point. They took almost 15 minutes to get water or a can of coke, once asked. The only redeeming point was the ambience and great live music (sitar and tabla).

We recently visited Taj Mahal Hotel (Taj Group, Five Star) for a family birthday celebration, and it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Our bill was over ₹18,000 for 8 adults and 3 small kids, yet the food quantity was shockingly poor. The rotis were so tiny that even a 5-year-old child needed two for a single serving, while the portion of vegetables was so minimal it felt more like a side pickle than a main dish. On top of that, the service was extremely slow – even asking for an extra roti took 10–15 minutes. Despite paying such a high amount, everyone left the table unsatisfied and still hungry. Frankly, this was highly disappointing coming from the Taj brand, where one expects both quality and hospitality.
