Chilled Beer, Good Times: An Evening at Zaama I have always been faintly suspicious of restaurants that describe themselves as multi-cuisine. In my experience, the promise of doing everything usually means doing nothing particularly well — a menu that tries to be all things to all diners and ends up being a masterclass in mediocrity. So when I first heard about Zaama Bar Kitchen Lounge, tucked away in Sector 113 along the ever-expanding Dwarka Expressway, I went in with my guard up and my expectations modest. I was wrong to be suspicious. But more on the food in a moment. First, let's talk about why I actually went. Zaama is hosting the Gurgaon Summer Beer Chugging Festival 2026, and the headline act was almost too good to be true: from July 6 to 12, beer at twenty-one rupees. Not a typo. Not a teaser price for the first mug before the real bill arrives. Twenty-one rupees, the way beer probably cost in this city sometime in the previous century. In an era when a pint in Gurugram can set you back the price of a modest meal, this is the kind of offer that makes you drop whatever you're doing and drive down the Expressway before the week runs out. I arrived early evening, that particular hour when the Delhi-NCR heat begins to soften into something almost bearable, and the sky over the Expressway takes on the kind of orange glow that photographers wait all day for. It set the tone, quite literally, for what turned out to be a rather perfect sundowner. The Setting Zaama's decor does a great deal of the heavy lifting in creating its atmosphere, and it does so with real confidence. The interiors have that stylish, cozy quality that so many newer Gurugram lounges attempt and so few actually achieve — there's a warmth to the lighting and a thoughtfulness to the layout that makes you want to linger rather than simply pass through. It's the kind of space that works equally well for a boisterous night out with friends or a quieter, more intimate dinner. Versatility, done properly, is rare. On the evening I visited, versatility was very much on display. There was a beer pong table drawing an enthusiastic, slightly competitive crowd, and a live band keeping the energy up without drowning out conversation — a balance many venues struggle to strike. Between the music, the game, and the twenty-one-rupee beer flowing freely, the mood was exactly what a summer festival ought to deliver: unpretentious, high-spirited fun. The Food Given the festival atmosphere, I half-expected the kitchen to be an afterthought. It wasn't. Zaama's menu ranges confidently across North Indian, Asian, Continental, and Italian territory, with a solid line-up of sizzlers thrown in for good measure — and rather than feeling scattered, the kitchen seemed genuinely comfortable moving between these cuisines. The food that arrived at our table was well-executed, generous, and exactly the sort of thing you want alongside good beer and better company: nothing overwrought, everything satisfying. The Practicalities A few things are worth noting for anyone planning a visit. Zaama has clearly thought about the full spectrum of its guests — there's valet parking, which along the Dwarka Expressway is not a small mercy, a designated smoking area, live sports screenings for the football and cricket faithful, and wheelchair-accessible facilities. I was particularly struck by the dedicated Kids' Zone, a genuinely thoughtful touch that lets parents actually enjoy their evening — cocktail in hand, conversation uninterrupted — while the children have their own space to entertain themselves. Family-friendly and a proper night-out venue are not descriptions that usually sit comfortably together, but Zaama manages it. As for the damage: a cost for two of roughly ₹2,000, covering both food and alcohol, which by Gurugram standards for an evening of this quality is close to a steal — and that's before you factor in the festival pricing. The Verdict Zaama earns its "chic" tag honestly, but what impressed me more was its range — a venue equally suited to couples on a date, families out for dinner, and friends looking for a proper night of revelry, without any of those experiences feeling compromised. Add live music, a beer pong table, and beer at twenty-one rupees, and you have the ingredients for a genuinely memorable evening. The Gurgaon Summer Beer Chugging Festival 2026 runs only until July 12, so this is not an offer that rewards procrastination. If you're anywhere near the Dwarka Expressway this week, I'd suggest you make your way to Zaama sooner rather than later. Cheers — see you at the venue.

Paid ₹2500 for one of the worst cafe experiences I've had. The place was full of people drinking recklessly, shouting nonstop, and trashing the whole cafe while staff did nothing. The music was blasted at a volume that genuinely hurt our ears and was clearly beyond any permitted noise limit. We asked the waiter Pankaj and the manager Vivek to lower it, not once but 5-6 times. They completely ignored us and instead kept telling the rowdy group to crank it up even more. No etiquette, no accountability, nothing. Zero regard for other paying customers. If you want a cafe where you can actually hear yourself think and staff who bother to listen, this is not the place. Seriously considering filing a noise pollution complaint. Would not recommend to anyone

The entire place was loud, messy, and out of control - people were shouting, drinking heavily and making a mess. Staff just stood by and did nothing. Music was so loud it was actually painful. We asked Pankaj the waiter and manager Vivek 5-6 times to turn it down. Instead of helping, they told the noisy group to make it louder. No respect for other customer Cafe was chaos - shouting, drinking, trash everywhere. Music was blasted so loud it hurt. Zero service, zero respect.
