Absolutely delightful bakery on Auroville road. Very welcoming and polite staff. Loved the food. The veggies are fresh with crunch and can hear the crackle of the freshly baked sourdough bread. I will return for this one every time I come to Auroville

Chocolate smoothie bowl is delicious, fresh and healthy. Everything related to sourdough is outstanding and yummy. Pink Lemonade was a bit of disappointment though. Must visit!

Had gone with my friend, and enjoyed some of of the best food I had in pondy. Had to wait a bit of getting a table and had to wait in a line for ordering.

Absolutely delightful experience at this cafe! The fig & banana smoothie was a refreshing treat, while the veggies roast stole my heart with its flavor. And don't get me started on the almond croissant - heavenly! Overall, loved the food here, highly recommend!

I never imagined I’d be writing this on what was supposed to be a joyful day — my sister’s birthday. We visited Bread and Chocolate in Auroville with excitement, expecting a peaceful brunch. Unfortunately, what we experienced instead was deeply upsetting and left a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons. We had ordered a pancake, 2 cold coffee and veg Rosti from their menu. There was no mention of egg in the ingredients, and since I avoid eggs, I politely requested if the pancake could be returned or revised — especially because we hadn’t even touched it. I wasn’t demanding a refund, just asking for understanding, hoping for a reasonable conversation. But instead of empathy or even basic courtesy, the staff member shocked me — she came out loudly, in front of everyone, shaming me for simply making a request. Her exact words were something like “Do not even suggest such things,” delivered in an unkind, dismissive tone that echoed through the café. On her birthday, this public embarrassment felt both harsh and unnecessary. I understand mistakes happen — maybe the menu wasn’t clear. But what truly hurt was the complete lack of kindness. A little compassion would’ve gone a long way. As customers, we don’t expect perfection, but we do expect to be treated like human beings — with respect. This experience ruined my day. I sincerely hope the management reflects on how much impact a single moment of insensitivity can have — and trains their staff accordingly. No one deserves to be treated this way, especially not over a simple, polite request.

The cafe is extremely loud, largely because of how the cafe staff behaves. We ordered two items (two drinks), and one came within 5 minutes, and the other one took over 40 mins. The cafe staff is extremely argumentative, and got us the wrong order at first. I have been to the other Bread & Chocolate as well, that one is much nicer, with better service than this one.

went to bread and chocolate because we heard so much about it. but the hot chocolate was genuinely one of the worst ones i have ever had. it's just plain milk, not even enough sugar or chocolate. when we asked for extra chocolate they gave us a measly few shavings of dark chocolate. do not recommend this place at all.

Very overrated place in pondi. Had to wait for more than 1 hr but still not worth it. The service was pathetic. They forgot one item which we ordered. They made us wait for more than 20 mins for the bill itself. The food was ok.
