Had a really good experience at Banana Leaf. Very good food, warm service, and overall a great place for a proper group meal. Special mention to Mr. Dinesh, who was extremely helpful in organising and managing our large group lunch. He made sure everything was smooth, well coordinated, and looked after us very well throughout. Food was excellent overall, but the kozhukattai was especially very good and definitely stood out. Great food, hospitable staff, and a very good overall experience. Would definitely recommend.

Writing Banana Leaf has always been one of our favorite restaurants, but today’s experience was disappointing. Out of 3 dosas ordered, one came in 10 mins, the second after 20 mins, and the third after another 15 mins. Except for the Bene dosa, the taste was average, and the vada was too oily.

Extremely disturbing and unacceptable experience. The food hygiene standards at this place are seriously questionable. Our group was served sambar containing an EARTHWORM — something no customer should ever have to witness while dining. What made the situation worse was the management’s reaction: instead of handling the issue transparently and responsibly, they immediately took the bowl away and discarded it before we could even take pictures or videos as proof. Yes, the staff repeatedly apologized, but apologies do not undo what was already served and consumed. Once something this unhygienic reaches a customer’s plate, the damage is already done. It reflects a serious failure in food preparation, cleanliness, and quality checks. We come from a Jain community where food purity and hygiene are deeply important to our beliefs and lifestyle. Being served contaminated food like this was not only disgusting but also deeply hurtful and disrespectful to our sentiments. This incident raises major concerns about the kitchen standards and overall food safety practices being followed here. A deeply alarming experience with a very disappointing handling of the situation.

Visited Banana Leaf in Kalyani Nagar (opposite ICICI Bank) and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. The first issue was with the seating arrangement. We politely asked the captain if we could sit at a better table or one of the corner tables that were clearly available, but he refused and forced us to sit at a table right in the middle of the crowd. The restaurant was extremely noisy, making it difficult to have a conversation. It seems customers are not allowed to sit at a table of their choice even when tables are vacant. We ordered the Benne Open Masala Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Spicy Chilli Potato Dosa, Coorg Idli, Filter Cold Coffee, Watermelon Juice, and sambar on the side. The food was equally disappointing. The Mysore Masala Dosa was soggy and lacked the crispness expected from a good dosa. The Coorg Idli was nothing special—just idli tossed in a tomato-based gravy that was overly tangy. The sambar was watery, bland.

It’s all showbazi. They have invested in everything except for food. I saw the reviews and visited this place, and it’s far from “authentic” South Indian. I can say that with confidence because I have spent 20 years in South India and I love South Indian cuisine. I ordered idly, basic idly, it was so BAD. It was so hard. And the vada was pathetic. The worst South Indian food I have had in Pune to be honest. I wonder how bad their speciality idlies would be if even basic one they are not able to make. It felt like my cook didi has cooked the meal. Just by adding multiple varieties in the menu and making your waiters wear the South Indian attire, doesn’t make you authentic. This is the reality of banana leaf.

Food tastes not that good. The unhygienic environment had multiple sightings of cockroaches, flies and mosquitoes at the sitting area. The free drink in the dine-out booking was denied, and as a consolation, we were given just half a glass of buttermilk, that too after the waiter threw a tantrum and displayed a bad attitude towards us. Definitely not a place to visit again.

The ambience is fine but the food is kind of okay . We ordered masala dosa and the masala was stale. Not a very good experience for first time visit
