Very nice place for mastani. Various variety are there. Better than sujata mastani.Also it is one of the oldest mastani shop in Pune. But should concentrate on hygiene.

For a person like me who is new to the city, it was not easy to find this 92 year old gem of a place tucked in the narrow bylanes of budhwar peth. But, the effort was worthwhile as my experience was amazing. When we reached the place, it was a small room like place with mirrors and photographs on 3 walls, while the last one was decorated with colourful bottles with the staff using them for different preparations including the various kind of mastani's they serve(and when I say that, you must believe that they have a huge variety which they must have created over the decades). They also have ice creams and faluda. On my visit to the place, I settled for Bajirao Mastani- which was claimed by the staff as flavour of the season(thanks to Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali). To, my surprise, the price was 55, while the current menu uploaded on Zomato reads it as 60. As I gulped the first sip, I had a fair idea about how they have succeeded to be so famous, it was delicious and loaded with flavours which bursting in my mouth and I was happily cherishing it along with the ice cream scoops added to the drink. I would definitely like to come back to the place to try other offerings on the menu.

Some legendary places are beyond reviews and all they need is an ode to their achievements. And this is what this is. Started in 1923, with thick milk being sold for 2 aanas, this MAST DOODH cold drink house has stood the test of time. You enter inside and you feel being transported to the pre-independence era when you see the pictures of Shivaji Maharaj, Gandhiji and Nehru put along side the pictures of dieties, which shows the respect these stalwarts wielded during that time. 【WHAT TO ORDER】 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mango Mastani Pineapple Mastani Dahi Ice Cream 【AMBIENCE】⭐️⭐️⭐️ Minimum basic furniture with just lined up syrup flavoring bottles and old paintings of Mastani is all that contributes to the interior decoration. Limited seating but no problem waiting. 【VALUE FOR MONEY】⭐️⭐️⭐️ Though the prices have been increased, stillI economical for the taste from the past. 【OVERALL EXPERIENCE】⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely going to visit till I live just to experience the period it represents..

There's something about this part of Pune that has always facinated me; something to do with old-school charm, maybe...after all, the city's history and culture do go back 15 centuries ! Its amazing how relics like the 3 centuries-old Shaniwar Wada have been preserved in immaculate condition to this day and how heritage restaurants in its vicinity are still thriving. There's so many great things (including food) that have originated in this very locale, like the famous 'Mastani'; which happens to be a 'Purepur Puneri' phenomenon. The origin story of the Mastani is pretty interesting, too. I'm not sure if I can credit the birth of the 'Mastani' to Gujar Mastani House, per se, but its had a role to play in it, somehow...of that I'm sure. Located in the busy 'galli' to the left of Kaka Halwai, near the Dutta Temple (both, landmarks by themselves); Gujar Mastani House was established in 1923 (which makes it almost 90 years old) and served what was then called an 'Ice-Cream Cold Drink'. There's a kickass old-school hand-painted poster just outside the resto that's 50 years old easy; that captures the re-branding of this drink which was described as 'Mast', by regulars at GMH, leading to the term, 'Mastani'. Sometime post-independence, the signature flavor - Bajirao Mastani was introduced here, probably as a tribute to the second wife of Peshwa Baji Rao (1700-1740), Maratha general and the fourth prime minister to Shahuji Raje Bhonsale (4th Maratha 'Chhatrapati' or Emperor) which is what most present-day regulars have (we saw one on EVERY SINGLE table). Now our chance visit to this place happened thanks to some office friends who we'd gone with, to visit the famous Dagdusheth Ganpati on Ganesh Chaturthi. So following 'Ganesh pooja', we decided to get some 'pet pooja' done as well since the wait in the queue had been arduous. Our friends had been visiting this place for some time, now so we didn't have to scan the 141 items listed on the wall-mounted menu, and promptly ordered for - 1) Special Bajirao Mastani - A confusing medley of ice-cream (not sure what flavor it was), fresh cream and 'some sweet milkshake' that I couldn't wrap my head around. I think the repeat patronage this preparation enjoys is probably because of the name and the history of this beverage; unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this mastani much. 2) Blackcurrent Mastani - Blackcurrent Ice cream topped with fresh cream, floating over thick black-current flavored milk shake. One bite and I cringed at the heavy use of extremely sweet (definitely synthetic) flavoring agents. Another disappointment :( So, All in all - Food - 3/5 Service - 4/5 (prompt service) Ambience - 4/5 (it has its own charm, IMO) Value for money - 3.5/5 (I was definitely expecting better Mastanis for 100 bucks!) While this place may have had its day, I'd recommend a visit to Gujar Mastani House only for the sake of checking it off your 'must-visit street food places in Pune' list. Sadly, the mastanis here aren't at par with the competition

On our weekend hunt series for one of the best Mastani in Pune we landed at this place although the route we took should always be avoided ...lands up into unknown territories...but finally we were able to find the place...this is just on the corners of dagdusheth halwai dutt mandir that's the best description of location The place is quite old seemingly since bajirao's era with paintings of masatani dancing across the shop to justify the delicacy .. Paltan had too many options to try out at this venture with almost every mastani flavour imaginable....we had our hands on - Rose Mastani -₹-80 - great flavour with limited sweetness for calories cautious people - Special Butterscotch mango mastani - ₹-120 - a great combo of butter scotch and mango with good amount of sweetness compared to the rose mastani - Special Bajirao Mastani - ₹-90 - Truely royal combo of mango and organe perfectly prepared with cherry on the top.. Happened to be the star of the evening Avoid bringing your vehicles to this place a simple walk would be nice...Overall tasted better and something new us {uid:2794394} {uid:1184216}

One of the best Mastani I ever had in Pune! As Pune is known for the origin of MASTANI, this place had to be the best Mastani serving restaurant. Gujar is a small conjusted place with a touch of authentic marble tables placed in their restro which is what attracts us. They have vivid drinks called Mastani at affordable prices. Worth trying💓 We had Mango Mastani.
