Malaka Spice in Koregaon Park is one of my favorate restaurants. However, it's a task for me to reach there with all the traffic. Naturally, when I heard that their outlet has opened in Baner, I was very happy. I made a plan to meet a friend here for lunch on a weekend Sunday afternoon. This outlet of Malak Spice us located on Pan Card Club Road in Baner. It is located in a building which still seems to be under construction. It is a medium sized restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Firstly, the ambience us nowhere near to theri Koregaon Park outlet. The indoor ambience is just above average. Being a hot afternoon, we chose to sit indoors. There were also a few flies inside which was really irritating. The place was almost empty when we visited and only a few customers trickled in throughout the afternoon. Talking about food, Malaka Spice specializes in serving a wide range of Pan Asian cusine. We ordered their Chiken D for Dumpling, Chiken Steamed Bao and Rendang Fish in Banana Leaf. The Dumplings were really good. Loved it. The Steamer Bao were great as well. The Rendang Fish was a bit underwhelming. It spices could've been balanced better. It was cooked well however. The mocktails were great as well. They did not have a printed mocktail menu. The staff is very well versed in the menu. Kingfish was not available. They also faced frequent power cuts. Good quality and acceptable quantity. Overall the experience did not match the price point. A one time visit for me.
