अस्सल पुणेरी जेवणाचा आस्वाद जर घ्यायचा असेल ते पण अस्सल पुणेरी वातावरणात तर "पुना बोर्डिंग" पेक्षा दुसर चांगल हॉटेल शोधूनही सापडणार नाही. ८० वर्षा हुन अधिक असलेली परंपरा आजच्या पिढीनेही जपून ठेवली आहे. तिथले वापरून वापरून मूळ आकार सोडलेले तांबे, वाट्या, ताट फुलपात्र एक "ऐतिहासिक" वातावरण निर्माण करतात आणि त्यात भर म्हणजे अस्सल कोकणी वाढपी. पहिल्यांदा विद्यार्थी अवस्थेत असताना स्वस्त जेवण मिळते म्हणून गेलो होतो. एकदा गेलो आणि नंतर कित्येकदा जातच राहिलो. पण नंतर स्वस्त मिळत म्हणून नाही, तर "तृप्त" होण्यासाठी....! रविवारचा मसाले भात तर कितीही खाल्ला तरी मन काही भरत नाही. एरवी पण आंबेमोहर भाताचं ताट नुसतं दोन टेबल बाजूने गेलं तरी काय सुवास येतो.. अहाहा. एकंदरीत इथं जेवण म्हणजे एक अनुभव आहे. पुण्याची टिपिकल संस्कृती जवळून अनुभयाची असेल तर इथे नक्की भेट दिली पाहिजे. सूचना: जर कोणाला नेहमीच्या हॉटेल मधले आदरातिथ्य आणि सुविधा अपेक्षित असतील तर इकडे फिरकू नका आणि जर फिरकलात तर हे मात्र नाकी की पुढच्या वेळेला ह्या गोष्टी तुमच्यासाठी दुय्यम होतील.

A review on Facebook drove us to this place, after a tiring day at work we ended up to eat some homely food!! Being “Sadashiv peth” pune-30 still the people who serve have an amazing aura and smile throughout! The food is amazing! We had a friend from Kolkata eating Maharashtrian food for the first time and this is what she concluded the dinner with “Pet toh bhara hi, lekin dil bhi bhar gaya...!”

A place in heat of the city serving delicious Maharashtrian food. Simple and homely. Just like eating at home - no excessive oil or spices, no soda. Just delightful and delicious food. Just love it !!!!

Good place. One of the oldest dining places. Tasty simple homly food. Good staff. I love the taste and quality. The custard is also awsome. Friday closed.

Mr Updikar is very polite in talks and the food is really yummy and delicious Authentic Maharashtrian food and u will relish

satvik food nice taste Providing the quality is just blessing for people in Pune .Some old people are daily customer I suppose owner is very much polite with them.Thursday and Sunday are special day.

This serves to its name in the heritage of food messes I.e. the khaanavals of Pune. At 150/- you can have lip smacking food which fulfills your hunger. The food has maintained its authenticity

Khanavals or the Food Mess have been an integral part of Pune's rich heritage and culture. Providing no fuss, fresh, home cooked, pocket friendly food along with best hygiene has been the trademarks of these Khanavals. Apparently, my recent visit to New Pune Boarding House was a disaster. The food was strictly okay but while eating i found a long hair in my food. When I brought this to the notice of the manager, he just told the waiter to change the chapati and replace it with a fresh one. No apologies, nothing 🙁. So I reckon there is no point in reviewing other parameters. Sorry, but will not visit this restaurant again.

The thali is limited one and if you eat even one more of the chapati (the thinnest ones you can get anywhere) the extra charge counter is started at 10rs per chapati. All Bhaji’s are sweet. Only good part is koshimbir. Instead of spending around 200 rs for this place its better to have truly unlimited food at Durwankur/Sukanta.

Tastewise thali is not great at all. If you make very normal Maharashtrian food at home, you will beat or match this taste anyday. There is nothing authentic about it, not a single special MH item. It is like 60-80 rs thali that bachlors eat in daily मेस.. we were disappointed for sure, waste of time and money.
